how crippling is enervation to the enemies?
i mean on paper it looks like a few good hits with it (no save) would turn even the toughest bosses into pushovers, but i'm not sure how many of their attacks, hp, AC, abilities, etc come from honest class progression, and how many are explicit flat adjustment by owlcat. has anyone tried using it consistently?

You first need to find an enemy that isn't immune to drain. And that's easier said than done...
But the main point of the Enervation is the insta-death. You take an Eldritch Archer and crit with maximised empowered enervation a couple of times and bam... the enemy is dead.

I used level drain abilities a fair bit. It can be a good way to deal with difficult baddies. Lich mythic path has a pretty swell AOE level drain ability called eye of the Bodak. I believe you can empower enervation too.

You can bypass immunities with the lich ability 'deadly magic'.

i was considering it as a spam spell for a sorcerer (with some metamagic rod). but probably greater invis should be the first pick anyway.
