Seeking advice for Unfair early acts
I have just started unfair on my new playthrough, having gotten to the near-end on hard (I like to save the ending to give me a reason to start again). I found the end became trivial on hrad, so I wanted to ramp up the challenge a bit and try unfair. Also worth noting, I have completed Kingmaker on unfair.

I am looking for advice on how to survive the early acts. My main character is an oracle, waves mystery, specced for melee. I am currently in the shield maze, where yes, everything is 1-shotting anyone in my party. I remember hating this part of the game on hard, and I really don't know what I would do to get through it on unfair. There isn't much min-maxing I can do by Level 3, so as far as I can figure your character is just going to be basically the same as any other Oracle at that point.

The current part of the game seems pretty 'unfair', since I am stuck with the awful premade companions, and can't pick up some more optimized toons to properly balance my party for quite some time.

As far as my plans for my character - angel mythic path with spellbook merge, geniekind stacking with elemental barrage, and rays and persistent AoEs for bosses I can't hit. Single level dip to monk for AC and crane style. Waves for Seamantle, free dodge feat, and ice armor. Should be strong, but currently running as a normal armored oracle.

Advice on how to handle the 1-shotting mobs is most appreciated!

There are reduce person potions and scrolls in this dungeon. Do you have the Crypt Raiders armor from the locked room next to the enemies your trying to kill? You can get the full +3 DEX allowed on that armor with Wenduags cats grace potion. Also, you have blur on? THe room with the lizards has a haste potion and that is worth another +1 to AC. Hopefully you have evil eye, because that could be another 2 taken off the enemies accuracy.

Just completed with my party Gray Garrison on unfair and my observations are:
1) you need a decent tank with at least 35 ac (or lower but with blur or displacement)
2) you damage dealers should hit mobs with an average AC of 28
3)if you chose Lann you can buy a wand of enlarge person in the tavern to give him more strength=more attack rolls with composite bow
4) also at the tavern you can buy the wand of reduce person to reduce your party members like Woljif, Venduag or Camelia or another dexterity- based character to give them more dexterity
5) for the tank you can take one level of stigmatized witch with iceplant and lizard familiar and buy him the ice ring for 9300 gold from the cleric in the tavern (+5 AC)
6) for the Gray garrison hard fights you need:
6.1 Atleast one scroll of haste (i used it on Jeslyn), one scroll of displacement for Deradnu (he has +26 attack rolls and one shot tank) or atleast blur but pray for the lack, scrolls of bless weapons also are helpful
6.2 Ramien help would be very appreciated to turn -off some nasty mobs
6.3 Spells like entangle, web, grease or pit are very helpful. Also is advisable to put Remove blindness, Stinking cloud, Resist Energy in one slot
7) for the tavern defence fight:
It was not as serious as i expected, i switched to ranged weapons on all characters except tank,position them behind the cover near Irabeth and used grease or entangle in front of her guard and shot off all enemies.
The main point is to hunt for fire alchemists, precisely the one spawned on the eastern roof (you have too reach him across your "battlefield"), the minotaur isnt dangerous if the guards still alive

In the gray garrison you should be able to get 40 AC with Seelah (probably more with Camellia)

Use the protective luck hex on your tank. Makes the early game a joke really.

Its the single most important tool in the early game on unfair. Hexes in general are gamebreakingly good. Slumber is trash even in the early game tho (mostly for the opportunity cost of not picking actual good hexes). Especially off our resident 17cha fullcaster.

I don't think it's mentioned here but give Seelah 1 point into stig witch (wolf scarred) with ice & lizard familiar combined with the icy protector ring (from the tavern). 5 AC just from that. Can also combine her with improved unarmed -> crane style during that level up. It'll help a lot with the early levels.

Just did as you suggest, (killing everything but the water elemental was JUUUST enough to level seelah before the end of the maze) and it sure made for a big swing in AC. I even took reduce person on her so I have access to it. Thanks dude!

Planning on sticking with the waves mystery for my oracle, since that's +12 AC at L19 from the ice armor, which is on par with what you'd get from archmage armor at that stage. I am definitely taking a monk dip, but waiting until I get to a higher caster level (and have the free dodge from fluid nature so I can then grab crane wing). Witch dip would only get me 3AC from the familiar and the ice plant since my main tank is taking the ring.
Funny you should mention vivisectionist, because after much agonizing deliberation, I decided to make my main tank a sf1/witch1/vivi18, for the eventual +10 armor from mutagen, +5 armor from witch dip, barkskin, +3 from feral wings, and shield spell for everyone, and decent DPS as well. Think I will go kitsune with master shapeshifter, which should translate to +2 AC from the 4 dex from that, which is close enough to what I would have gotten from going halfling/ cautious fighter, with the option of staying kitsune and doing some disgusting pounce attacks (+9d6 sneak attack, +10d6 mythic charge, for up to 13 attacks). Thinking I will back him up with a brown fur transmuter as my arcane caster, which should add quite a bit to stats from empowered reduce person and empowered cat's grace. Only thing missing is mirror image, so can take/make some scrolls or wand for when it's needed.
