Absolutely cryptic questline consequences (Sosiel brother)
So apparently I did everything right to meet him at the arena, and make Sosiel talk to him, and even managed to keep the special shield with him. However I probably didn't choose the ***exact*** dialogue options with Sosiel before when I talked to him privately, and now I can't say to his brother "You're safe now, its over. I've come for you. Let's go home.", there are just two option of "you are not my brother blabla" or "i forgive you blabla". So why exactly I can't save him? Why this entire questline has to be so cryptic that you can't actually solve properly without reading a guide? I didn't even choose any "bad" or "evil" dialogue options with Sosiel before, just didn't choose the exact ones that are required by the guide, and now I can't finish the quest optimally. Why this have to be like that? It's absolutely ridiculous.

The choices like that doesn't matter (from my new observation).
it goes back to act 3 choices.

If you treated his brother like a hero he will fight to the death.
If you treated his brother like a victim of war you can save him.

It's called making choices and dealing with the consequences. How you have influenced Sosiel's opinion and characterization of his brother and his actions has a tangible effect in the game world. This is called game play.

You cannot save everyone.

So if he considers him as a hero, he will just let him die instead of fighting with him and saving him? This doesn't make any sense.

Don't know why either.

I just chalk it up to pathfinder devs

Exactly that what I did, I made him believe that his brother is a hero. I just don't understand why in Sosiel brain it means that his brother should die as a gladiator in a filthy arena, while he's running away.

That’s incorrect, on a technical level, as Trever makes the decision to sacrifice himself to buy time for Soseil to escape. It was his choice to go out like a hero.

It just one of those thing where the Dev didn't think the whole situation through.

This game has so many encounters where people just teleporting away right in front of you and you can't do anything to stop them because "plot armor"
I mean seriously you just watch as they exit.

This is quite similar, you are in control of the whole situation but when it come down to the last bit, the game make the choice for you.

Wait, you can save him? lmao I thought it's just another really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ questline with bad writing. Never in mind there was a thought that I must've done something wrong in the dialogue options before.
I think saying that he's a hero was just a lawful option and I needed that for the aeon's alligment.

Ah right . Because anything that doesn't have the outcome we want is called bad writing nowadays . Lol

Optimal ending should be Sosiel dying clutching a handful of bloodied paintbrushes and a canvas tearing his abdomen because he tried to get an abrikandilu model for his newest painting.

Well, if they wanted to go for the "consequence" thing, then maybe they should've added a bit more triggers than 1 dialogue option at the 1 exact moment of the game to decide the ending of an entire 4-act long quest chain. So I guess it's not just bad, but also lazy writing.

There are 2 dialogues ( you can see the "flags" and their " values" through toybox).

But it looks like you will twist this in order to complain no matter what anyways.

I guess it would be better to not include a secret companion and just make it scripted that his brother dies no matter what :)

tbh i found the fight with only sosiel and trever pretty difficult, so trever sacrificing himself to save sosiel made total sense to me

They actually removed that fight lol.
It was complete BS in unfair.

I was pleased in my current play through when I didn't needed to fight :steamhappy:

Here's the thing, this is only a viable comment if the game actually has sensical dialogue. Not "I AM A PALADIN OF LOVE AND BEAUTY ERGO I WANT TO MURDER MY BROTHER WITH MY BARE HANDS BECAUSE THESE STRANGERS JUST TOLD ME WHAT A NICE MAN HE IS!!"
Miskatonic Oct 4, 2021 @ 2:50pm
Sosiel is a cleric of love and beauty, and he's faced with seeing his tortured husk of a brother who has fallen from everything right and good and heroic. He kills him to remember him as a hero. It's rather tragic.

Unfortunately it still doesn't save either him or his brother from warming the bench.
