Diplomacy 5 decision - consequences <Spoilers involved I guess>

As I understood this, this decides whether or not I am going to be independent later on? What are the farther consequences? Do I lose any upgrades, items, can I keep my title in Act 3 regardless, can I (Angel) still get Galfrey as a follower later and so on?

Also I cannot upgrade diplomacy beyond VI after declaring independence. Is that a bug or intended, since the fox lady who starts the council is gone now ?

If you go independed it's counted as maxed out and the end slides will reflect that, to get the best outcome you'd have to be independend and have maxed out all other aspects.

You get the best outcome when you declare independence ? How odd, I assumed I made the worst choice possible

I'm also guessing since the diplomacy track freezes you lose access to the +2 all stat elixor as well.

Getting good old Bokken's elixir is one of the choices during the council where you get the opportunity to declare independence^^ I ended up reloading and taking that since I doubt you can get the achievement for max ranks in all categories, when youÄre stuck at VI

You can actually get the achievement after declaring independence since doing that counts as maxing out the stat.
