But it isn't necessary at all tbh.
Plus, it gets you Clerics immediately, so the Gargoyle fight doesn't take forever.
Not so spoilery spoiler When you return to the city/world map in act 5 you will start with only around 5k finance points and small amounts of materials/magic resources and most of your armies will be gone or reduced, but generals will remain as will your monthly income from infrastructure. So plan ahead for that loss.
To be fair you should have way more than 7.5k and there is really nothing vital to spend it on anyway, the game showers you with loot. 7.5k even in act 2 might set you back a couple of encounters worth of loot if that, you should have more than enough money by the end of the act for important items *cough* red salamander ring * cough*
Also you're on a timer of sorts - you get so much morale for winning a battle that wears off after a certain number of days. Therefore you need to keep fighting battles. There are small demon armies that are easy. But you'll run out of them. More soldiers means you can tackle the bigger demon armies and you have a reason to tackle them sooner rather than later. Therefore you want to get more soldiers as fast as possible.
Look after your army and your army will look after you.
