You can fail that one as far as I know.
Though, I am not sure what you mean forever. It was a hardly five minute battle if at all.
some games do that, a fight you supposed to lose,, i just figured this was one.. or i would have kept on.. my guys werent dieing at all. maybe some kind of indication, to me it seem waaaaay too long.
I think the battle can be finished early once all arsonists are taken out. The Minotaurs were just big targets for me, with two tanks defending the line and the rest shooting from roofs.
But I do not think it will affect your playthrough badly having lost that one. It makes your playthrough rather unique on its own.
