Any reason to play daeran?
Seems to me Sociel is like a better Daeran .
Being cleric alone is pretty nice for some domain shenanigans.

Personal preference.

Spontaneous caster. This alone kinda justifies it. Also better healer.

Maybe I’m just not doing it right but I feel he suffers from being good at one thing but just not as good as others in doing multiple things.

He’s a great healer but that’s it. Sosiel ca. Both heal and help fight with a reach weapon, ember can be a good healer but murder people with fire, and even Camilla can heal well but also can be built to kill enemy’s as well as anyone.

I guess you could make daran aslo a summoner but then again so can ember or hell Camilla makes a good hareld caller cleric.

You can give Daeran Salamander's Ring (if you don't have Ember in the party) or those storm bracers from Blackwater making him a pretty decent blaster mage on top of a healer.

Daeran is the better healer and support caster. There really aren't many spells you need in the video game adaptations of tabletop systems, thus spontaneous casters have an innate advantage.

So it's a question of whether you want to double down on divine casting/healing, or you want a mediocre second line melee. From my experience making my main a cleric, the margin by which they're overshadowed by true martials in the later game makes a secondary focus on melee pointless, better to just intensify their focus on magic and let them blast a bit.

Also, Daeran's dialogue is awesome.

Daeran is a better healer by far and he's worth taking around for dialogue alone. He makes almost everything better just by being there.

There's nothing particularly wrong with Sosiel. But i wouldn't bring him around for healing. Both Ember and Daeran are better at it. And glaives are nice but he's not particularly good at using it either. But with impossible domain at least you can give him a dog to perk him up a bit. He mainly suffers from being average and dull.

he's cooler
Ghost Oct 3, 2021 @ 5:45am
gave him heavy armor, tower shield, all the minute / level buffs, greater enduring mythic feats, extra channels and triceratops .. he's rly rly good

Unlike Soshiel, Daeran can get Mass Heal as a level 8 spell, so he's absolutely the top healer at end game. Soshiel needs a couple of mythic abilities to be a great healer and he's not really built well stat-wise for melee either.

Sosiel buffed with Cleric spells is not mediocre melee-wise. Not by a long shot. And a lot of people are talking about late game, but when a new spell level first opens to Daeran, he gets very few spells immediately. Whereas when Sosiel gets a new level, he has access to every spell of that level.

And Guarded Hearth gives Sosiel access to arguably the best buff in the game.

Dearan is basically 80% healer, with some other stuff for filler.
Sosiel is a healer that can hit stuff with a glaive (and there are some very good glaives available) has a decent range of useful utility spells and can turn any prepared spell into a cure wounds of that level which frees up a lot of slots for fun/utility stuff without worrying about waste

As has been stated, Daeran is the best healer, and since you can pick spells at level up you can select some to fill in gaps that may not be covered by the rest of your group. Also, if you want to go crazy you can select abundant casting and greater abundant casting and he can cast like 12 spells per level.

That and in my opinion he's a more interesting character.

One great way to make Daeran less one-dimensional is to use the first Mythic ability to pick another mystery, and select Nature: that way, he gets a pretty good wolf animal companion that can more than pull it's weight in combat in place of Daeran himself.

The big answer is that Sosiel is boring as heck while Daeran is hilarious.

Daeran gets wings. N'uff said. :steammocking:
