Finnean: sling and slingh staff
I've noticed that Finnean can't become sling or slingstaff. It's pretty strange because find a good sling staff is impossible at now and at the same time the Mwengian Hunter (or similar thing) has sling as added proficiency. It's useless because the sling as weapon doesn't exist. It's possible at least pur sling staff as finnean option. Thank you for attention

Finnean can become any weapon the character you currently have selected can use. If you have proficiency in Sling Staff (which is an exotic weapon) then he should be able to change into one.

Slings aren't in the game. For some stupid reason the game has multiple weapon types mentioned you can't actually get or use (hand crossbows, repeating crossbows, shuriken, etc.)

edit: I just doublechecked it on a save of mine and he can turn into a sling staff if you have a character that has 'exotic weapon prof/Sling staff' feat selected.

The lack of slings is really baffling, since they were initially in Kingmaker (super rare, but they were there) but then Owlcat removed them with one of the major patches. It's one of only two native ranged options for Druid, not to mention a basic core weapon available to every class, so I don't know why they're so opposed to having it in their games.

I'm guessing it's because then they'd have to add feats to make them at least as viable as other weapons. I imagine they just left sling staffs in for people who like to RP vs. min/max.

They're just as viable as darts, which they bothered to put in the game. Actually more so, since they're a rare source of ranged bludgeoning damage.

If I had to guess they had a problem with the animations or something. Which is a shame, even old Baldur's gate and Neverwinter Nights were able to make passable sling animations.

the sling is a simple weapon proficiency anyway
