Summon wolves can be super helpful to take aggro and they sometimes get a lucky trip attack.
Clerics are a focus when they appear and weirdly all gargoyles are weak against embers sleep hex.
Meanwhile I had the rest of the group camp the back where the 'surprise' waves drop in to eat the cleric group. I had Ember sleep the targets in the back group, or put protective luck on the archer they always like to go for.
Don't be afraid to heal the NPCs if needed. But the fight is much easier if you don't care about them. I was annoyed with the Hellknights so I largely focued on keeping the cleric group up and let the knights take care of themselves. They were fine really. Even Yakker who's running around naked with a dagger.
But I did all of the above in turnbased mode, and your results may vary if you're playing on higher difficulties. But the 6 waves thing seems about accurate. Each alternating between the entrance of the cave and the rear.
You aren't required to do any of it. But if you made the trip you might as well finish the job.
Heh, I tried it on hard and it was a 'hard' pass. In fact I was astounded you can actually keep Regil anyway. Not that he makes it off the bench.
I rejected him after the fight and he still ended up conning his way into my group at a later point.
I did this encounter on Core. Took me literal hours to get through it. CC basically didn't work, tanks died quickly. Friendly NPCS were trash. Regil gets unlimited HP so you can exploit that.
Overall a long uninspired fight that simply threw mobs at you.
It's 50/50 on decent difficulty. Because Ember's stats suck.
