Curious as to why Aldori duelists and defenders abilities require a Dueling sword or if a Rapier could ever work?
I do get it a bit from the lore perspective but why can't someone duel and disarm with a Rapier (Or can they?) and if so what does not using a dueling sword do to Aldori classes?

I mean I could see some folks wanting to make Camellia like one of the Three Musketeers from the cut of her fashion and color choices too.

No biggie just ideas running through my head and wanted to ask folks who know more about the classes and systems than I.

Thanks.

It's meant as a flavor class rather than a base one.

One of them is a Fighter subclass it seems. Can any of the abilities transfer to weapons or be used without the dueling sword for either Defenders or Duelists?

Is there a way to make a standard fighter an unofficial "duelist" with disarm and similar feats?

pretty much lore, aldori need that dueling sword to pull off their technique, for the rest there is the duelist prestige class

No, it's gotta be the "Aldori" dueling sword. The base duelist is essentially the "duelist" and the aldori defender equivalent is just base fighter, and yes you can turn a standard fighter into an Aldori Duelist in the sense you can pick up almost everything to a lesser extent since both Aldori classes specialize in their abilities.

Kind of an interesting take on a build designed towards Making Camellia out to be a deadly Fencer by the way of LoreMaster.

That was exactly how I used her. Since my main was a Rapier using Cavalier. She was one of my musketeers.

But I kept her on class for the most part, just taking two levels in Instinctual Warrior so she could turn her wisdom into AC. Which worked better for her than Duelist would have. Plus the rage ability fits her personality pretty well and doesn't have the downsides of the normal barb version. And had her pick up the Limitless Rage Myth power so that the internal anger issues never stopped.
The Aldori Defender (a Fighter archetype) and the Aldori Swordlord (a prestige class that I assume is in the game, I haven't paid much attention to the prestige classes yet) are region-specific narrative options for the Aldori Swordlords (the faction) of Restov and Mivon, each of whom is a master with the Aldori Duelling Sword, which is why all of their abilities revolve around the use of that particular weapon. Owlcat's descriptions just chop the Aldori name off their swords.

It’s a flavor/ lore thing from the tabletop game. The in-game Dueling Sword should actually be named Aldori Dueling Sword, created by the first Aldori and the basis for the style/class that was created to use it. That being said, the Aldori classes need to use the dueling sword and not another weapon because their entire styles and techniques are based upon the unique properties of the dueling sword. It’s like how Japanese kenjustu sword schools/styles are based upon katanas and need them, and wouldn’t work if you tried to substitute a longsword.
Here's some of the lore details for those curious: https://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Aldori_swordlords

That sounds like a pretty darn cool and also lore friendly way to roll with Cam! I can dig it!
