how does prismatic ring recharge work? bugged or mangled text?

don't understand the text - "can recharge the ring by consuming spells for which the sum of their levels must be equivalent to at least 9"

It has zero charges when picked up - so I have to recharge it, character wearing it has cast 7 greater heroisms (lvl 6) so it's not about spells than have been used - so what does "consuming spells" mean?

Or it just bugged like so many other high powered items that don't work

You probably have a skill in your A tab which will let you consume spells. Consuming spells always means losing the slot they're memorized on (or just a casting if you're a spont).

You have to forfeit the spells/slots to recharge it. Every spell should get a drop-down style option now, to use it for the Prismatic Ring rather than as a spell. However, every time I tried recharging it, it never gained a charge. I assumed it was bugged.
