I was going to make some remark about find traps but you don't get that this early too.

Yeah, the note is the only way a far as I can tell, dc 30 is insane - that is actually going skill focus - peception + levels in thief, even then I think you will only get a 29 on a nat 20 ...
The pre order goggles help vs. swarms. Don't help with perception.
I get that you might want to skip some fights, but actually that is counterproductive in a game like this. Those fights are xp, and xp is what you need to succeed later. Seek out the xp, lap it up, and level up sooner so that you will be better prepared for the content that follows.
