removing annoying decree system
is there a way to disable this somehow?
just started act 3 and already feel frustrated!
i have bunch of decree and i cant even manage to finish 1!
none of them have a decent explanation on what to do or who to talk to!
i have 0 clue on how to form council or give orders to irabeth that is standing next to the table....
thre goes the lost scouts decree as well.

the game managed to turn from fun to frustrating in 5 minutes.

I mean..it's not that the crusade is any challenge, it just keeps you off from the main game.

For the decrees and events :

A lot of event(cards) give you decrees after they are finished. Some decrees are repeatable every few days, some are single use ones.

For the one with Irabeth, you just need to activate it and wait after it is done. I'm not even sure if the "continued" progress from that is story bound. But in my first playtrough tthat one gave me headache too. But iirc, you really just need to wait.

Anyway, the crusade isn't set up very well all in all...the unused decrees even stack when you forget about them for a while, I guess I currently have like 40 decree cards waiting for me.

And go to Drezen HQ every few days, there are new events all the time there. Giving you more options for the crusade and add to the diplomatic feeling. Also that's the place where you form your councils and other stuff like that, AFTER you finished their decrees to "start setting them up".

A lot of event cards give you an event/conversation with your council(s) or other npcs in your Drezen HQ.

PS : I'm no fan of the crusade myself, but I like some parts. The whole roleplay aspect and diplomatic stuff...but I had more than one moment when I just closed the game because I was so annoyed by the crusade management. Like.....when you're fully motivated to level your party and then realize you need to crusade for an hour or two before you can go on with quests etc.

PS 2 :

If you asking where you manage the decrees and events, it's in the crusade management screen (button left from recruit button).

they all take time to complete. So activate a bunch, then go questing and as time go bye they complete. There will be an exclamation symbol when they complete on your bottom left when on the world map.

all the council quests say 1 day - only to move from 1 spot to other takes ages
thats why i dont know what i need to do to get them done!

The decrees aren't quests. You just activate them, and they'll auto-complete themselves when the duration finishes. So, you can't fail a decree. They're things that your crusade army does behind the scenes for you while you adventure.

you don't do anything. You just wait for a decree to finish. It's not a quest, more like an order you give.

thank you! just did it!
whats toybox?

im a huge fan of homm 3 5 7 (4 and 6 can burn in hell, literally)
i play on 200% difficulty and i enjoy almost every minute spend (if i got a map with passages - else without teleport your stuck Q.Q wasted a few days this way)
but this crusade is badly - horribly planned, full of bugs and isnt user friendly at all!
the lack of decent explanations and the time waste of managing this side of the game is frustrating!

i play now in act 3 - tons of bugs! i cant get the menu to open even to save the game by clicking ESC if i travel to specific places, this small dragon i got from mythic is a walking bug in Drezen! cant target him half the time, other half his just not appearing on the map...
and to all this bugs and more, add the badly described quests like the dragons fate for example... if not internet guides i would have never found the 2 items... then i after i found there is no update on the quest... after long search i read i must finish dragon hunting quest and only then storyteller will appear in Drezen...

so this crusade mode doesnt add to the enjoyment.....

A popular mod which allows tweaks and cheats - beloved since it helps to iron out a manifold numbers of issues.

thank you!
just made 2nd general and im like... his lvl 1, monsters lvl 4-5 minimum.
where is the balance???!!!
Borroleth Sep 28, 2021 @ 9:07am
Toy Box is a MOD, you can do a variety of things with it. Some use it for "cheating" but that's just a small part of it. I use it primary for double classing and making crusade a no brainer.

Nexus Mods Website is the place to got for mods. Not too difficult to implement into the game. Most mods explain it anyway. I strongly suggest usinf their mod manager app, if you want to use mods. You just need to creat a mod folder, after deleting a "no mods allowed" text file and then drag n drop the mods into the manager.

I play the game itself on harder difficulty too, I only set the crusade to story difficulty. (It's in the standard options iirc, not in the difficulty). It doesn't have an effect on the main game/story.

The game itself is truly great imo, had no crucial bugs so far. Maybe I'm lucky or my system components just work well togethter. Never had an issue with the Azata Dragon tbh. But I truly hope we won't get an Crusade dlc or something. XD

The balance or non-balance is about the total strength of your army. The more units you have, the stronger it counts. Though generals differ too with attack/magic power.

To keep things easy I recommend you go for a spellcaster general who can throw fire spells on the enemies.
