Some spells in the tactical combat is so...lack luster.
I used Judgement Day, thinking it was a end game spell. It did 60 damage. I double checked the stats on it again and yes, the spells extremely lack luster. The healing is bad, the damage is bad. Why bother adding this so late?

Looks like there is error: all damage and healing spells use square power, and this spell uses just plain power.

It's look like it should be d6 x power x power damage/healing to all units, which is very powerful.

In my experience, the most useful crusade damaging spells are Scorching Ray & Fireball.
For healing, Cure Wounds is low cost & pretty reliable, and Breath of Life can restore a full stack from a handful of survivors later in the campaign(stack 40-60 Clerics asap for more reactive healing, can't replace CW, but they're tanky units & have several casts per battle, giving you breathing room for a fireball)

Choose Setsuna Shy(the Oread Monk general) as your first general to start with SR & an extra army unit, and he'll get Fireball by level 3-5(usually by the time you're fighting your first Gargoyles), with Ice Storm(for enemies resistant to fire) & Fire Storm(fireball, but bigger!) as he levels, easily the best choice of the lot, imo.
He also starts with decent Power, making his spells that much stronger when compared to most other generals(except maybe Chief Abegoya, she's a bit of a magic powerhouse)

Ultimately, though, general spells are there to supplement your units, not wipe out the bad guys, and yeah, the later spells kinda suck. Good thing you have trusty old fireball.

I just used by horde of Marskmen covered with a lot of useless to okay troops. But that spell felt so underwhelming I just kept CCing and healing instead.

Firestorm not just covers more area, but also has 1d8 base damage, instead of 1d6, which boosts damage considerably.
greater negative channeling litterally mapwipes anything that isn't immune to negative energy on the enemy side. so judgement day is prob bugged math wise
