PC's choice of deity
Now that the game is out I wanted to ask about this. I'm at my happiest in RPG's when the game world reacts to my design choices for my character, even if its just the odd bit of dialogue. I do want my character to feel unique.

Does the main hero's patron god come up much? I was going to make a paladin of Iomedae, as it seemed the most appropriate for the plot, but I see there's already one in the party roster.
Shelyn would be my second choice, if she's depicted as she is in canon, as opposed to the hatchet job Kingmaker did on her.

yes and no, in some cases who you follow comes into it and in other places it doesnt, i would say there probably one or 2 instances for each deity in the entirety of the game, most notably iomedae who comes up pretty oftem but in no way is it a huge thing, alignment comes up more than anything else and mythic path aswell

Whats the difference with Shelyn in cannon and kingmaker? this is me genuinely curious not trying to prove some "ur wrong" point.

I like my chaotic good Desna worshipper. Azata path is all about Desna and you get a dragon companion (not pet a companion with lots of dialogue) as well as tons of doing good things for freeeedom! Also considering if you are a straight guy wanting to romance your options are 2 nut cases a uptight queen or the best which is arushalae who is a Desna converted demon.

Huh? There is a relatively fresh thread about that already: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1184370/discussions/0/2961670087550036792/

Or do you mean something else in this thread?

It didnt domanything to Shelyn herself but it had a sect of Shelyn paladins that were really wacko zealoty. (Valerie’s entire personal quest)

When I chose to be an Atheist I got some in game dialogue with a couple of characters/instances about having made that choice. Might not be something in there for every religion but there's def some.

Pharasma came up a fair bit. Any time there were undead, basically. Got the ability to banish a few to her judgement.

There are some dialog choices and you can, depending on the god, actually invoke them during the right times. My first character got Calistra as god because I just scrolled through the list and picked the first vaguely matching the character.
During the final battle of the Drezen assault I could invoke her for a nice buff.
Definitely will be choosing the gods more carefully for the next playthroughs.

If you worship Lamashtu, she is a big fan if you follow the path of the Swarm, and it begins in chapter 2.

Rovagug gets a few mentions on the demon path.

In canon she is basically the kindest, most loving person ever. Her clergy are all about forgiveness, looking for the best in people, INNER beauty and CREATING beauty through art. In Kingmaker the clergy tried forcing their faith down Valerie's throat and forced her to serve as a living object of worship, purely because of her good looks. And when she got really, truly sick of it Shelyn put a scar across her face as punishment, which she then removes if Valerie sort-of makes peace with the church.

As an in-game atheist I can remember my decision coming up a couple of times (once in conversation with an atheist companion, once in a rather amusing way when (very mild, non main quest related spoiler ahead) a succubus tries to captivate you by attempting to inspire feelings of divine awe in you and my character was immune because as an atheist it meant nothing to them .) For me that was an enough acknowledgement, and if you're choosing to worship a particularly relevant deity like Iomedae you may see it mentioned more.

Also, (spoilers for late game mythic path incoming) as a Devil you do get to invoke Asmodeus and Mephistopheles a few times in-game, so Asmodean cleric could be a neat tie in for anyone interested in a lawful and/or evil playthrough .
