Anxiety because of the doom timer
So... little confused on what quests I can complete. The one with the red hourglass... do those mean I have to complete those first? And the ones without the hourglass? How do I know a quest is an end of a chapter quest? Is there a logo for that or is it a LOL GOOD GUESS

Your fear and anxiety is reasoned, and yet you can be at ease.

1. There are only four or so things in the game which actually cares about timers. One of them is related to an achievement. Another to ... an achievement?/secret ending which you are unlikely to get on your first playthrough. The others I can think of is countered by common sense. Praise for autosaves which makes your fear obsolete with those.

2. The red hourglass just means the current chapter of the story is your last chance to do so. After that chapter the area/opportunity to tackle the quest becomes unavailable.

3. Before each ending of a chapter you are being hinted properly and explicitely by the game - if you are ready, if you need more time to prepare, and if you realise you might not be able to come back. This game really prevents proactively for you to trigger the next chapter unknowingly and unwilligly.

Heh this game is way more lenient with quest deadlines than Kingmaker was. I wouldn't worry about it too much, you can choose when to progress to the next chapter so it's almost entirely under your control.

So the quests with no hourglass I can save for whenever? Would've been nice for the chapter-ending quests to have a label. "Hinting" is subjective. I could accidentally do a red hour glass quest and screw myself over.

For Pathfinder 3, please devs don't do this again. CRPGs do not need doom timers.

It doesn't just hint it comes right out and tells you that if you progress further with what you're about to do you're going to end the chapter and lose access to any unfinished quests you have for that chapter.

Okay, thanks!

The hourglass is merely an indicator that this quest must be finished in this chapter, which is true for most. You get a clear prompt at the point of no return of each chapter and can stop to finish such tasks before proceeding.
There are no doom timers, except for the crusade part. And that isn't a countdown, but the morale mechanics make it advisable to proceed at a constant pace.
