Any way to deactivate XP sharing?
I have found "only skill user receives skill check exp" and "only active companions receive experience", of which the latter is not what I'm looking for. How can I optimise the Xp my MC receives?

What do you mean exactly? If you want your MC to get all the xp, run solo and check "only active companions receive experience".

""only active companions receive experience" - Means only your (up to) 6 Party Members getting EXP, the Rest i stuck on the level they got when you find them and never get any EXP. So therefore your MC and the Rest of his Activ Party gets more EXP. You cant change it so only your MC gets way more EXP. Its all Members, All Active Members or none.

What you can do is play with a deliberatly smaller Party, for Example 4, and the "only active companions receive experience" Active, which will give you Bonus Exp on top.

I wonder if having a smaller party with higher level would make Unfair easier or harder than a 6 man party

Deactivating xp share with reduced party size makes the game much much easier and i personally consider it an exploit but since it was in Kingmaker and is still here now the devs probably dont.

What's the earliest point I can dismiss or refuse companions? So far, Seelah, Camelia, Lann (and Wenduag, until before Shield Maze) decided to join on their own, and I can't dismiss them.

Just dont take them with you when you Leave the Tavern or Drezen. you dont have to dismiss them entirely.

Only when you want to do the other story lines maybe, leaving 1 less basically as a helpful party member

You can deactivate XP sharing at any given point in settings. You can dismiss companions after a Prologue, in a Defenders' Heart. Later you can refuse every other companion in the game, except for Sosiel, but he can be dismissed too.

You'll probably have a harder time early on, after a while since you'll be higher due to higher xp it'll become easier and toward the end as you are limited to lvl 20, you'll probably get it harder again.

tl;dr harder early/late game, easier middle game.

if you want to get more XP with the MC, you have to run alone and disable the all companions get XP.
So all the jucy XP go to your MC.
But expect to die alot :P

apparently though (i read about it recently, and then verified it myself), "share xp" only affects the amount of xp if your current party has fewer than 6 people. if it has all 6, inactive companions don't drain any xp, they just get it "for free" if it's shared, so running a 6-person part with xp sharing off is a major trap.

Not 100% true. If you have 6 people in your party, they get nothing additional. You will get 1/6th either way if you go with 6

I will do a solo llaythrough and an all custom party of 4 playthrough with the experience to active members only.

I suggest keeping the NPCs and doing their quests one at a rime to gwt more experience and items. Then just send them back to camp when not on their individual quests.
