No most demons are not imune to lighting. Those that have regen you need lighting to kill. And yes are prety tough to fight even on Story Mode. I shudder to think what the most toughest bosses would be.

My lich had a great time with them, using repurpose on them and turning them into allies for the entire duration of the area.

Apparently coup de grace works on them while they are down.
Stat damage and instant kill effects like disintegrate probably also work.
Ascendant element lightning works.

Second on that - use it after you down them. It's an ability all companions have from level 1.

Lightning to kill? didnt knew. Well its annoying indeed. Also my melee had no lightning but only my main hero would kill it. This area is super difficult.

Incorrect. All demons are immune to lightning, including Blackwater ones. You need to either slap then with a +5 weapon, or with adamantite, or coup de grace on the ground.

yes and be sure you have not put any spells on auto casting, they will drain quickly your ressources casting on the grounded enemies.

The game has a tutorial pop up when you first encounter regen enemies. It explains exactly how it works, how to counter it, and what abilities of your team can be used to deal with it. Blackwater also has two wands with electric damage, one at the very start of the zone, as well as plethora of +1 longswords with electricity affix. You are given all the tools and knowledge you need to deal with those enemies.

So why Lann with lighting damage bow could do lightning damage on demons?
The enemies with regen you need lighting and what was said coup de grace to put them down.

For whatever reason Seelah's horse companion also had a field day murdering them but I'm not sure if that's the result of any particular equipment, choices or growth I have. Still fun, though.

He could not, your memory is mistaken. Every single demon in Blackwater and elsewhere in the game is immune to lightning. Perhaps you were hitting Salamanders and thought they are demons - they are not.

Nope, have been killing them with shock bow too. Might be a difficulty thing...

I guess the confusion is that they're Outsiders rather than demons? Or maybe a difficulty thing? Because things like the incubus and greater Kalavakus marauder are definitely not immune to lightning for me (not even resistant to it, actually).

I guess it is. Tested on old save quickly and on the easiest possible adjustment they do take damage from electricity. Which is weird, because immunity to it is not removed from the statblock.
