Could you ride a Dog?

It seems certain animals that start small but grow to medium as you level are not recognized by the game for their new size. Gnome is small and should be able to ride any medium mount, however some mounts that begin game small and grow to medium as you level up appear to be recognized as small mounts even though they should be medium. When you try to mount it says the mount must be one size larger than the character mounting it.

Basically any Class/Sub-class that either provides mount/animal companion or the animal domain (oracle of nature or priest of nature domain) can ride their mount/animal companion if it is one size larger than them. For human, dwarf, elf, tiefling, etc. they can ride and large animal for the most part. For example, I have the Inquisitor Hunt Master i believe is what it is call and they get a mount at first level, so I chose the Smilodon which starts at medium size so I have to wait unit it hit level 7 which is when i became large to ride it. The Oracle of nature for example can choose the revelation that gives it an animal companion which can be used as a mount once at large size, or a horse which starts at large.

Be aware that some class/sub-class choices do limit the mount to ONLY HORSE or BLACK HORSE. The Cavalier is an example of this with the exceptions of the Halfling Cavalier of the Paw, which gets dog/wolf mount or the Cavalier of beasts if i recall the name correctly which has the full list of mounts open to it, but again will need to be large for everyone except gnome/halfing. I must say that the Halfing Cavalier on the wolf is pretty darn cool looking.
