The first tip is with in the name of the game. Grind.
So what you want to do is unlock the black smith. then grind the levels.
You want to focus on your armor and your weapon. This will give you a boost. Try to keep your stats balanced.

A easy race to start with is the human since thy coin double xp.

The dwarf warrior is also an easy class to play. After every level up you get 2 strength and 1 constitution (Health). Here you want to focus on armor and weapon upgrades from the black smith. You will need to grind a bit more for XP than if you where a human.
