For diplomacy, there are many facets to consider. If you are playing with the Age of Alexander (or later) DLC enabled, you can use Emissaries to nudge relations. Otherwise, diplomacy can be a matter of trading, treaties, geography, and not-doing-hostile-stuff.
Can you clarify what you mean by this? I'm guessing you mean sending resources to perspective allies via the trading system. But this is only dependent on not being at war and having a valid trade route.

you will see all the potential upgrades for that particular map item. When you hover over particular upgrade, you will find out how it can be upgraded.
when i played years back i thought i remember pathfinder for cavalry but maybe i am thinking ships.
i have old version of game with old OS
yes sending goods through trade. would be nice to send a gift to establish potential trade. i dont know what to do to establish friendly relations.
thank you, this is (for my older version) menu from the unit within the library, not menu when you click unit on the map. i looked up the hippis cavaly and it says pathfinder is available from blacksmith, i took unit to blacksmith but no option, i even simmed a few turns and still didnt get the option.
Are you sure you have the technology to train this upgrade?
Edit them in what way? Using the in-game editor (Alt-A) is probably a good place to start with most edits. Only the more complicated edits need direct save editing.
The save files are XML files (plain text), so you can edit them with any text editor, although one that supports XML will make your life easier. The factions can be found under /Main/State/players/players
edit meaning i want to swap Korinth for Ionia. i didnt think i could do that with editor. i like starting with the nations i have read about all my life for immersion, weird probably but i have accepted my weirdness long ago.
where are save files located? i checked docs. and appdata>roaming and appdata>local. all i found was a kube folder with configuration settings. am i looking for a "kube" folder or imperiums?
another thread someone asked about the sorcerer, i replied about deleting it, did you see that? just curious if you had any ideas
thank you for the help
I guess renaming a faction isn't too involved. Each faction has a "name" as well as an "alternativeNames" sub field to replace. You'd likely also want to replace the "realname" and "flag" attributes.
For example, if you want to change the name of Korinth to something else, you need to find this line
On the other hand, if you really just want to change the name of the faction itself, you can do that in the editor.
You need to switch the active player (top left corner) and right click the faction name in the bottom left corner. Do not forget to switch back to the original player once you are done.
hope this makes sense
The portraits are located in subfolder Faces and Players of [GAME INSTALLATION FOLDER]\bin\Mods\ancient_greece\Windows
It is not that difficult to realize how the things work when you see the file/folder structure and the scenario.ims file itself.
In the scenario.ims file you find data for each player in <Player elements. Ideally open the file in any XML editor available.
you are correct, i didnt realize right and left clicks gave 2 different info windows.
yes i am sure the tech is available, i can train pathfinder on the infantry but not the cavalry.
when i right click the blacksmith it doesnt show any improvements available like the city window gives, but the stable doesnt show improvements either. its weird that cavalry window shows that available at blacksmith, i dont remember training any units at blacksmith.
one more thing while i got you, i always have the greek units such as hoplights and hippis cavalry, sometimes i notice i can train other culture units like axmen and warrior cavalry and they are in cities i built not cities a conquered. how does this work? i like the warrior cavalry but have no idea how they become available sometimes.
Stables on the other hand do allow to improve cavalry units with things like Defense. I suppose that all the "blacksmith-related" improvements should had been assigned to stables. I have logged it to our tracking system and this will be addressed.
Some specialization of conquered cities do remain available for the conquerors even when they do not have that particular technology/type availability
