I'm stuck?

I'm at the point in the Coliseum where the guy with the torch is running toward you and the rats are swarming into the room. The guy falls and the rats sweep over him.

The animation shows the Main Character and her companion running toward you.

A message shows on the screen that says to press the up arrow to sprint.
If you do she turns around and runs back into the rats.

If I push the back arrow she runs but I have no control over her and she's running at me so I can't see where she's going.

Do they mean something other than pushing the forward key when showing the up arrow?

I'm on a PC, and some of the key symbols are kind of weird. anyway, like arrows pointing in two directions to indicate the TAB key, why not just say TAB?

Anyway, I've tried this 10 times and I can't find any way to keep the rats from killing her, and I"m assuming they don't mean to press the forward key, but I don't know what they are talking about.

What does the up arrow symbol key mean in this game, it means forward when I looked in settings.

PS, it did try pressing the sprint key and the forward arrow and sprint key together

the up arrow key actually means LSHIFT key, it is actually in many games, and it's kinda universal for running.

Here you are supposed to run thus you need to press LSHIFT key, as for the direction, the controls are inverted, as the camera is now in front of you, so instead of W (forward), you need to press S (backward), so you need to press and hold both LSHIFT+S keys.

be mindfull of obstacles, (walls, fences, and other stuff), it's easy to bump into them in this mode, and be eaten by rats, so be ready for manuvering with A and D when needed, it will only take a few meters and than you will be back in normall mode, also this happens several times in the game, mainly during chases, so to enhance the action I guess.

also the arrow keys themselves, don't do anything (I guess), WASD is for movement, and LSHIFT is for running

I finally got it, I had to push the S key plus Shift. She finally started running. Most of the games I've played just say left shift key but the real problem was that I had to push the S key too. When I tried pressing just the shift key she didn't speed up, and if I pushed forward she turned around, anyway I'm past the rats.
