Chapter 2 Crank Bug. Please Help

I have searched on google and bing and I can't seem to find this exact problem. I did see some similair bugs here in this forum, and even saw where someone mentioned in a thread this exact problem but I never saw an answer.

In the room with the elevator, the crank, and the elephant skeleton. Amicia goes up the staris, she mentions the smell. Lucas mentions the smithy. They see the crank. Amecia walks up to the crank and the interaction button shows up. Amecia and Lucas begin turning the crank and are only able to rotate it 1 quarter of a turn. They get stuck rocking back and forth. The gates are lifting and then get stuck also. the rates never enter. The save gears at the bottom left corner of the screen remain on screen until you press X to stop interacting with the crank.

Once Amecia lets go of the crank she says, "There's a counterweight." Lucas says, "Yes, Let's move it all the way". from that point on I am stuck.

I know that the crank should continue to rotate, and the rats should come into the room and Amecia should be able to go into another room and open a chest to find some crafting ingredients and so on, but I cannot get my system to move past this point. Amecia is instead free to just roam around the room.

I have tried the other proposed bug fixes for similar issues with chapter two related to this puzzle. I have restarted the game more than 20 times. I have tried locking the frame rate within the game to 60, and to 30 and I have tried locking it to 60 via Afterburner as i saw suggested. I have gone back and replayed the previous section of the game where Amecia and Lucas are climbing on the rooftops and are dropped down into the sewers and they have to run from the rats and use the torches.

I don't know what else to try. Please help.

PS. PC Info.

Lenovo gaming laptop with i5-12450h and RTX3050, 32gb ddr4, Windows 11 installed since new. Game is installed on a 1 TB NVME. Playing the Game Pass version of the game. version 1.6.0.0.

Very similar, Keep working the crank back and forth until the gates drop. My problem is even with them open I cant get into the rooms passed the line where they used to be

i had to use all the buttons ( w.a.s.d ) on my keyboard. When the crank stopped i had to chose between those. The grate has to go all the way down
