If using one of those FSR mods....
Game wont start anymore (due to latest update) and I ended up NOT backing up the few original files replaced with the mod. Tried validating files through steam but no chngne.

Seems the only solution is to uninstall and redownload. Unless they update those mods for this latest update version of the game.

Unless someone has a brilliant idea? Seems Im stuck

You have to delete the PlagueTaleRequiem_64*.exe, the nvngx, nvgx_dlss.dll, sl.common.dll, s.interposer.dll and at last the wimm.dll. After that you have to doubleclick on "DisableSignatureOverride" and verify the steam game data in games library, so that Steam regenerates the original dll-files and the*_64.exe. In my case it was the solution.

That makes sense and I could of thought of that!
I will try but you're likely right!

Have some common sense, buddy. If validation does not fix it, it's files that are not part of the actual game as it is distributed on steam. So find out what files were part of the mod and delete them, if not sure delete too many files and revalidate again. Pretty simple. No need to totally uninstall the entire game.

And yes I saw what dude above me posted, I had to say it anyway. You do not even need to know what files exactly. The quick way I would do it is just deleted all .dlls .config files and .exe files in the main game dir or some /bin dir where the main game exe is and then revalidate.

For one, I had no idea steam was "smart" enough to allow to delete stuff willy nily, now I know.
And yes it worked. Other guy wasn't being an ass with his answer though

Which one of the mods, there are a few different versions/sources out there
What did you though revalidating files actually does? And how am I being an ass? The saying buddy or reminding you to have some common sense. You're triggered, buddy because you do not have any. I get it!

Of course steam checks all files, missing files, wrong files ... I wound not call that smart. I wound ASSUME this, expect this from some distribution platform that lets you "revalidate" files and is 20 years old and an industry leader.

And yet you double down on being an ass. Well done.
Move along.
You're not needed nor are you helping.
You're not even clever or edgy. If at least you were funny and/or entertaining. Nope. Just annoying
