Who the hell is Arnaud?
Did I miss something, with how/why Arnaud suddenly switched sides and is now being hunted by the count for some unexplained reason? Or are we supposed to just accept what the game tells us? I was so confused when he showed up in chapter 7 without his armour and had no idea who is mystery character is that is helping them now and had to look it up, as they don't even call him by name in that first cutscene,

I understood all of that after the fact, but the game does an incredibly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ job of illustrating any of this when you are going through the game for the first time.

The game tells you all you need to know, in due time,, honestlly, the cutscene made me confused too, at first, but not whether or not Arnaud and The Beast are the same (I knew they can't be), but who is the misterious figure that saved them and why?, but soon after I learned all I needed to know, you just have to keep playing and pay attention.

I was confused too my first time through for this very reason. It doesn't help that you first hear both of them mentioned within minutes of each other.

not the first ones to be confused, however, if you follow the story from the beginning, it's not actually.

Really all you need to know about The Beast, is that He is the commander of Provance army garissoned in Red City, and also that He sentenced everyone (infected with plague, or not) to death, by preventing everyone from leaving, and killing those who try.
When Amicia manages to escape the Red City, He decides to go after her, and they finally meet in the quary, where she kills him.

Suffice to say, Arnaud and The Beast are two completely different people.

Thanks for the clarification on Arnaud and The Beast. Now that you mention it I do remember one of the guards (I think in chapter 4?) talking about the Beast with another guard. Guess I'll keep playing to see if Arnaud's storyline starts to make more sense.

Yes, it will, just keep going

Arnaud on the other hand is a more complicated guy.
You first encaunter him when searching for the Alchemist in the Arena, He is leader of a mercenary group that works for (unknown at this point) Victor, or the Count, who also for some reason, wants that Alchemist, in order to get to the Alchemist Amicia has to kill Arnaud's mercenaries, which in turn makes him mad at her, bassically, and He too decides to follow her with the rest of his man, in what I belive to be his vengence attempt, since she killed his army, and took the Alchemist.

However, Arnaud would follow her, and attempt to attack her by the boat, or more precise attack her familly that are waiting there, but Hugo summons rats and Arnaud escapes, but seeminglly He kept following Amicia and Hugo, as they work their way through the quary.

Now despite what you see, and think, Arnaud does not save Amicia's and Hugo's live, out of courtessy, or by simply trying to be nice or asking their forgiveness or whatever.
He has his own agenda, but you are going to whitness this verry soon.

Suffice to say, Arnaud and The Beast are two completelly different people.

Yo dude instead of posting cringe meme lines from over a decade ago, how about you actually listen to others? Next time you play a game, focus on it, you obviously didn't in this one.
Amicia and Arnaud talk about her wound that was caused by him, mere minutes after he appears to help us. If you didn't understand who Arnaud was then it's clearly your fault. The game does pretty decent job in explaining who he is.

You could also not be a pretentious douchenozzle, but we can't have everything I suppose.

No you can't so work on that comprehension to avoid future humiliations.

it's simple really, he saw Hugo controls rats and summons them so he decided to take advantage of him by helping them, i guess he recognized main characters and decided to use plot to achieve his goal
The only thing I really don't understand about Arno is why he needed Vodan in the first place. We remember that his people were looking for alchemist in arena, and here I sincerely don't understand why they needed him. According story, we do not meet absolutely anyone who could "order" Vodan, Arno does not express any interest in his fate - that is, there is nothing personal between them.

Best guess is he wanted a renowned alchemist to cook up some powerful ♥♥♥♥ that he could use to kill the Count of Provence since hand to hand combat would be extremely hard to do without somehow bypassing his platoon of guards, and a boat

He is Eddard Stark ripped from Game of Thrones. Everything in this game is "borrowed" from somewhere.

This sounds extremely dubious, simply because that literally no one from Red City knew that Vodan was an alchemist. There is a direct indication of this in dialogue with the herbalist. Besides, Arno had his own squad of soldiers to deal with security platoon.

This character is in heavy armor when he is first introduced. When he does a 180 and is not in his armor it seems to come out of nowhere. My first play-through it took me a while to connect the leader of the river ambush (whose face you never see) to the defeated/armorless man that wants to be an ally.
