Performance all over the place?
Why is this game so badly optimized? Frame rate is all over the place and no matter the settings I try nothing really works. Like, I tried lowering settings, tinkering with the DLSS, even opened my case to drop the temperatures in the small chance it was because of thermal throttling. Nothing really improved the performance. Even removed the small OC settings for my CPU/Ram just in case they affected the game.

Had everything maxed out and at one area I had like 50something FPS. Dropped everything to high, reduced some other settings as well, exactly the same performance not a single frame gained. Tried DLSS at performance mode and it made the game look like sh*t (also didn't improve things at all, tried it at the market scene early on and I swear it felt worse).

Checked my system with Afterburner during gameplay. Neither the GPU or the CPU seems to work at full load. Have a 5800X, a 3070Ti and 32GB of ram which I assume it would be enough to have a stable performance, but nope, the game at times runs horribly.

During the market scene, the frame rate was barely over 20fps, again no matter the settings. And this is my biggest issue. I don't really mind lowering settings to get a decent performance but as I said multiple times so far, nothing really seems to improve it during certain parts. Don't know what, but something really hurts the performance and it's not a setting, at least not one visible in the menus.

I also got 5800x but only play on 6650XT, the market scene is getting around 45 FPS for me (2560*1080) and GPU usage is 90+%. So, you had it worse.

oh its not ur hardware, its just the game. I'm im a 5600x with a 3090 and get 120 down to around 90 fps when its just anything outside of a huge city area. Then towns like the market or when there lots of rats in a city it can chug all the way down to around 45-55.

Strange as I have 3070 with 10700k, M.2 NVMe SSD and 32 gig good cooling and the frame rates and temps have been very good, fps at 70 to 80 for most of the game on 1440 34inch wide screen... mostly high settings with a few tweaks (basically a tweaked modified default). Only difference I see is you all seem to have AMD CPU's (not that is a bad thing).

That's what's baffling to me. I've read that the game runs pretty good but for me it was all over the place and nothing of what I do seemed to fix things.

Need to point it out though, I played the Game Pass version so maybe there's a difference to the Steam version or something?

No man. No matter what setting I changed, that part was around 25fps. Even tried Ultra Performance on the DLSS and it actually made it worse.

Might do a clean install of my GPU drivers because this isn't normal.

After FSR 2.1 moded, it's almost 60 FPS constant for me, the market dips a little bit but sure lot better.

I tried it on Gamepass on a 4090 / 7950x. It runs like ♥♥♥♥. It stutters all the time with fps all over the place. I just deleted the game. Iam waiting for it to be patched and run better.

Its all up to poor uptimisation. Life is to short to think more about it. I have moved on, for now, to other games.

3080 and i7-10700k here, and my frame rate has been all over the place even at just 1080p. I actually had one section of the game send me down into the 40s, which is pretty ridiculous given my specs. It's incredibly demanding and IMO not very well-optimized, especially when you take into account how incredibly static its environments are (you can barely interact with anything).

This. People saying it's very CPU Intensive cause of the rats. I've hit chapter 5 and there have been scenes with barely any rats in them that drop frame rate. If you're inside with rats: Probably OK. Outside? Dropping anywhere from 40-60. Meanwhile there were set pieces in Innocence with just as many rats or more then I've encountered so far. Then you've got the market which I'm pretty sure is borked. I'm not sure about the end of Chapter 4. Crazy detailed but again...very linear. I just don't know.

check your gpu utilization, after swapping my 6700k for a 12700k i gained 20 - 40 fps

now everywhere i go i'm gpu bound

before and after screenshots, check out the gpu usage

3090 Ti at 4k max setting with DLSS Auto gives me a solid locked 60 fps so far in any situation on Game Pass. I could get 80 except for when the rats appear.

No, it's not CPU intensive, my 5800X barely hit 50%

what is your gpu usage when the frame rate drops ?

My 6650XT mostly runs at 90+ 99% in this game playing on 2560*1080 on max settings.
After I used FSR 2.1 mod, it's been a lot better now, and only drop a bit in some areas.
