RX 6800 XT at 4K Performance
I have been playing the game on Xbox Game pass, and performance for my system seems terrible. I get frequent stuttering when there's too much action going on, and as for average frame rates....

...The game chooses 4K, but with a 60% render scale and Medium graphics quality throughout. I thought the game was being overly cautious, so set it to 100% render scale and High details. I ONLY get 25-32 FPS and the stuttering is near constant at these settings (forget Ultra!).

Dropped it back to Medium and 60% render scale, and it just about teeters around 60 FPS with frequent stuttering. So, this game is just badly optimised, or has my RX 6800 XT not aged very well for next gen titles at native 4K with a reasonable level of detail (anyone here with an RTX 3080 able to compare)?

Swallow the pride and drop the resolution to 2K or even 1080p maybe?

I have seen 3080 benchmarks and are about the same than the 6800XT. This game looks fantastic, but, like the first one, it ask for a lot of resources to run decently. And some stutters are unfixables, mostly the ones when you enter a new area.

I ran it at 1080p ultra upscaled to 1440p with RSR (the game doesn't have FSR because is a Nvidia sponsored game), RSR is good enough. I got min of 60fps in worst case scenarios, and above 70 in other places. Lowering the graphics is going to give you more FPS but not a lot.

in 3080 is about the same, even with DLSS compared with RSR, in performance at the same amount of rescale is the same, but the quality of DLSS is better, still, as I said, RSR is good enough to use it loosing a little of fidelity and the gains are great.

I don't think that you can play this game at 4k native on high or ultra in 3080/6800xt around 60, maybe in interiors, but not in demanding zones, there, the game is going to run around 30 or even lower in specific places. You need to use RSR or DLSS, put it on high, and try to rescale it from 1440p to 4k with RSR to see if you got around 60fps, test it in the beginning, the first time you see enemies, where you need to hide in the grass, is one of the most demanding parts of the game.

Thanks for the replies. It's s shame it's so demanding on the GPU, and while it does look pretty it's not vastly better than Innocence visually despite the performance hit.

I head back in-game to the grassy area uri_nrv mentions right at the beginning when you are escaping the castle with Hugo - Used this area to toggle things on and off and seeing what effect it has on FPS or fidelity.

If anyone finds this post in the future for my RX 6800 XT at least, here's what I have settled on to keep the FPS around 60 - Item's in BOLD seem to have a huge performance hit if increased btw:

Resolution: 3840 x 2160
Render Scale: 80%
Motion Blur: Off
Chromatic Abrasion: Off
Graphics Quality: Custom
Draw Distance: Medium
Shadow Maps: High
Volumetric Lights: High
Ambient Occlusion: High
Depth Of Field: High
Contact Shadows: Medium
Light Shafts: High
Screen-space Reflections: Medium
Texture Resolution: Ultra

The DLSS(FSR) mod seems to help a lot on AMD cards, if your willing and able to follow the instructions exactly from the readme and the posts section for the mod on nexusmods, it's called: DLSS Unlocker for all GPUs including AMD Radeon

If you don't follow the instructions exactly it will either crash your game or not work or only partially work

This FSR Mod video worked great for me. Huge improvements in performance and the feudality loss wasn't as noticeable as resolution scaling or using driver based upscaling.

My system is a 6700xt and 5900x
I run 3440x1440p ultrawide on max settings with DLSS (FSR hack) on auto
FPS in the 60s and hitting 90s in some parts.
was in the low 40s without the hack
