Music puzzle?

I saw someone mention on a message board that this has a music puzzle. If so, would it require you to be able to hear and distinguish particular notes or just generally to have any knowledge of reading or listening to musical notes outside of information that is directly provided in game? If so, it goes to ignore list from watchlist for me; that's just an unforgivable cardinal sin in a modern adventure game in my book.

I am somewhat tone deaf and I was worried when I got to this puzzle because I was having trouble with it. Then I noticed the solution.

I'm actually having a lot of trouble with this puzzle
It looks like it should go DGBGD but there's no B string, and replacing B with either A or E isn't satisfactory for the puzzle, so I don't know what gives

Look at the visual clue in the room which should be obvious if you look around for what you haven't used yet and follow it exactly.

Also note you must start the sequence from scratch or immediately after a prior sequence has failed.

If you're talking about the sheet music engraving above the door, because I don't have musical literacy, I can't figure that out very well. I looked up what looks to be a treble clef thing to help me, I mean, it could have been a Bass Clef but that looks like it'd work less even more than DGBGD on the treble clef, so maybe that's a red herring and you're referring to something else? Obviously, since you're not neccesarily supposed to have music knowledge to be able pull off this puzzle, it probably IS a trap solution, so I'm probably looking at the wrong thing

I eventually got it because I started focusing on the cat sounds instead a was able to deduce that a high and low note repeated twice and decoded with brute force from there, I just couldn't figure it out visually. Sorry to disapoint :(.

Big hint: Take a look at the carving above the door. Each horizontal line represents a string of the fiddle. Imagine the carving is the fiddle laying on its right side. The notches you can see in the carving reveal a pattern, and read left to right. [/spoiler[

I eventually got it too, but had to brute-force the solution. I couldn't actually hear the cat notes very well, even with the sounds turned way up and had to trial and error it until I got it.
