I play since about July 2020 also different tournaments and my experience is not what you describe. Nearly all is correct if you not what you have to look for.
Putting is Dramatically Different from Ready-Go to Head-To-Head Scored Play using Apparel on both?
????
I don't think you can use "Apparel" in Tourneys.
Doesn't explain my Observation, however.
The tournament I played was the pinehurst 10 credit tourney.
What I will do is give it another go and remain objective. See if the experience is the same or different.
Now don't misunderstand. I'm not good at this game and I know that. That's not the issue. I'm just happy to get better and learn the courses with the equipment I have.
But having the distancing change due to just a change from stroke play with friends to stroke play in tournament on the same course with the same conditions was extremely frustrating.
I will give it another go though and see if it's changed or not.
I am on 'Master' rank now after 2months of playing. Players of old had it good, their XP bars to reach the next rank were much much much much much much much much bigger. I have 86,000XP total bar, I saw a another guy yesterday also 'Master' with 1.4million XP bar.
New players get shafted, they have tiny XP bars between new ranks thus they rank out of control even playing just basic games and occasional tournament. So (like me) they out rank their clothing and clubs so fast they don't know what happened.
I bought some good clubs (so I thought) after changing to Pro rank. I figured I would be ok for 6months maybe longer but now, just 30days later, I find myself in a position where I need better clubs. Well at least a new driver to better cover the new tee position that I now have. Problem is there are no drivers that warrant spending more cash, best to wait till I reach 102 so I can buy the TS3 and be done with it. I think much frustration awaits as I continue to rank into oblivion while not playing as much as would like to. I stay away from tournaments now, the XP bonuses there are just too crazy.
I have played with many different balls up to 450credits. After loosing a bunch, and also playing them till they have no more shots left it started getting too expensive to carry on with higher-end balls.
I now use the cheap WGT ball with spin, just 10credits and it works fine, stops well on the greens (sometimes dead on the spot doesn't roll at all) My advice would be to buy clubs with high spin attributes, distance lesser factor than spin. At least, that is true on my rank for now.
Clubs I have now: (Only listing best ones, I have other lower-end clubs as well)
Driver: Titleist TS2 (3495credits)
Wood: Mizuno ST200 3 Wood L48 (1600credits)
Hybrid: (Have 4 different ones but don't use hybrid anymore)
Irons: Callaway Mavric Pro L30 (2225credits)
Putter: Taylormade SpiderX L35 (900credits)
Wedges:
PING Glide 3.0 L18 (325credits)
Cleveland CG16 L7 (495credits)
Titleist Vokey SM7 L26 (1195credits)
I spent over 10,000 credits one these alone, not counting other clubs I bought. These were the best value for money clubs (Distance, Precicion, Spin & Forgivens) at the time & level when I bought them. If I knew ranking would continue to be so crazy fast, I would have waited, especially on the driver.
Thank you all for your advice and replies. It's been great to hear from you all :)
