THE CULLING ROOM FLOOR - HIVESWAP ACT 2 CUT CONTENT MEGA-POST (suggestions welcome)
- Scrapped cutscene, seemingly taking place in the Indigo Blood room, doesn’t seem like Nihkee was originally meant to knock you out.

- Fiamet was presumably originally intended to be portrayed as a Fuchsia, they were later changed to be shown as Violet in the final release.

- Charun was originally supposed to appear in their cave, featuring a fishing and sculpting minigame and multiple cutscenes.

- Zebede was originally supposed to appear in his hive, he would have given you mind-honey.

- Joey, in an earlier build, acquired a fishing rod item from Charuns Cave, possibly after meeting Charun, the parts that would have been used to create this can still be found in the current version of the game.

[Multiple things, like the fishing rod look like they were cut only a month before the games release?]

- One that shows Fiamet text in Fuschia [images.squarespace-cdn.com]

Well that explains why the cave and the house areas felt so...empty.
So... they didn't just seemingly cut out a lot of content, they were cutting it out still a month before the game came out? That would explain some of the issues I had with the game honestly. A shame, because it looks like it had a lot more potential. (If people enjoyed the game in it's current state then I'm glad! But I personally found it... rather empty a lot of the time)
I'm really interested on what went on behind the scenes here, a three year development cycle and it seems like they've still cut out large chunks of the game?

I did find the empty house and cave kinda odd, and after all that preparation to venture through the forest, it struck me as a little jarring to then suddenly be at the train station, where the story seemed to truly hit its stride. It's like the nature walk was a bit of an incomplete prologue that maybe could have been cut entirely if not fleshed out further, or replaced with a brisker sequence the hit the same beats outside the train station.

Updated it with the fishing rod thing, I didn’t even realise the rod was in one of the month-old images, a lot of stuff seems to be cut at that time.
yeah those areas felt really oddly out of place and empty. You just kinda teleport from one train station to the top of a mountain, to the hive, to another train station and its bizzare and just vacant. Really disappointing that they cut out stuff that was supposed to be in those areas but didn't trim down the trial part to something reasonable instead.
To me it almost feels like they REALLY wanted to make that deadline, rather than delay to add more polish/content. I agree that the game didn't really hit its stride until you get on the train, because it honestly felt kinda boring during the first section.
it also seems that some screenshots on the steampagew have the "hoverpad" from act 1
but as far as i know you cant bring that with you after you get xefros out of the rubble

Starting to wish we had a better understanding of what's going on behind the scenes. These games are good, cut content or no, but I don't like the feeling that they have a habit of their ambitions outstripping their abilities. Makes me worry that Acts 3 and 4 are at risk of never coming to pass.
