All Valdor aren't revenants, but the final unlockable party are revenant versions of the Necroreavers and Valdor with a bit of a twist on top in the form the aggressor perk. You can still recruit normal Valdor a couple of ways; the most reliable being from a Valdor fort.

Got it, thanks.

I was about to fight Amos, and he has the revenant tag. So I assumed they were all revenants.

I think they just make him a revenant since he is so oped

Is Victor a revenant as well?

victor is not a revenant. He can get injured

I just got him - and thank God! ;)

So I won't be recruiting Amos and Ivadd (don't like his tendency to self-torture), but keeping Victor.

You can always just recruit them and let them get killed off in a tough boss battle to help weaken the guy. Ivadd is nearly perpetually going to be injured anyway, so his death is all but guaranteed, whilst Amos is stupidly OP with the right build - he may be undead, but he's damned good regardless.

What is the "right build"? There aren't many variations with ranged characters, are there?

Typically they revolve around what kind of critical effect you want on them, and always say "YOU MUST HAVE LIGHT FOOT AND/OR STALWART". With Amos, because he has the ability to leap around all over the place and has the special trait Rooted, he has a better version of Stalwart but cannot Swap positions; so that frees you up for more options.

For instance, you could double down on Bleeding Criticals and Vampire's Hunger (?? - can't remember the exact number but it gives you health for hitting bleeding targets), with a side order of Leeching Hits so that you auto-heal from every hit you make. Even if he gets surrounded, he can just leap away next turn and fully heal up after a flurry of throws, or maybe Immobilise some enemies whilst he's at it so that he can heal up slower as he relocates to a better spot.

You'd definitely want to change his Focus Ability though - Blood Strength is useful at times, but something like Aegis or Last Stand is ALWAYS better.

Got it - thanks. I re-started yet again before I tackled him. So it's going to be a while to get him now.

I guess Amos is a weird hybrid case where he is a ranged DPS who is also a quasi-tank?

Still, I wish he were not a revenant. First, I do not want to employ undead characters; second, with my sloppy newb play, I am guaranteed to get him killed at some point! ;)

One of his more interesting traits is Evasion. When an enemy moves next to him, he instantly leaps away to a safe hex, gains 100% Focus (triggering his Sudden Throw trait for an instant ranged attack as well as activating his Focus Ability), and the enemy doesn't get to do to him whatever it wanted.

Further, as a Revenant he is Bloodless and so cannot be bled, Armoured and so cannot be easily poisoned, and Valdorian so acid is useless. He has a ludicrous amount of HP for a ranged unit and cannot be shuffled into a weak spot unless you let him.

His biggest threat are leapers like Bloodknights, because their attack hits before they land in the spot next to him, and so do not trigger his Evasion trait in time to, well, evade the attack.
