Best way to grind soldier/brother in arms trait?
curious on what exactly activates brother in arms/what tile spot does the person need to be, next to them facing the enemy? behind the person, unable to hit the enemy? etc. For soldier i heard of using a shaman to keep whatever unit you doing this topped up on hp while you do this, any1 know a specific enemy that is perfect for doing this/other strategies?

Backstabbing for DPS (the one supporting the backstab gets credit, not the attacker) and covering allies for tanks. Soldier is easy, as long as you don't buff the HP on the tank too much; you want to be able to lose 12% or more of your HP per hit w/o having your armour torn to pieces (so obviously don't use enemies with Shred Armour).

Soldier is super easy, respec the stat and avoid pumping vit, then equip equipment/mutators with negative hp, most give -10% but some stuff like birdy (best for this -43% hp), brilliant mind (-35%) masochist (pretty rare one so you probably wont have this)

Anyway your guy will have like 300-400 hp, at this point anything with attack around 100 will contribute to the skill, just kill everything leaving 1-2 guy left and let them hit the soldier, priest healing to keep him alive. If you have last stand apply it on him too.

Oh and dont use axe/mace/maul enemies for this, one handed sword enemies are best probably

Get a shaman and farm perhaps that 4 legged beast that looks like a dog, found them good ways to level up soldier, for brothers in arms I would farm a shaman for backstabs, shamans will just continue to try to regenerate so they perfect fodder.

Thanks. Yes, now I think about it, pounding healers is usually safe way to do anything! ;)

soldier - look out for enemies that can hit you for 24% of your HP on normal attack. Wear best armor and three -10% HP mutators, and birdy if you have it. Don't put points into vitality until you finished grind.

Brother in arms - set up critical flank on enemy, then rotate your fighters on one side of it. The fighter on other side gonna get progress. Look out for focus ability mutator that gives second attack as separate action. It allows your fighter to attack twice in a row and you don't even have to rotate fighters anymore. But it has to be separate action relic, double strike in one action doesn't work just like berserker double strike doesn't work on it's own.

Jesus fug, is that Soldier trait a pain. I am running a 9 Vitality Guardian at level 14, and he still only has 20 percent buff. Meanwhile he's died so many times trying to farm this sheet. Just ugh.

So... found out something odd, was doing a village takeover mission, was trying to grind brother in arms against shamans but over 10+ times trying getting a point up in brother in arms wasn’t working... for none of my 4 guys I was trying to do this on, backstab was not proccing, any idea why?
RCMidas Mar 27, 2021 @ 9:29pm
I've only ever seen it proc on sword-users (attacking) or anyone with shield/plate mail (defending). If it's supposed to be able to proc on anyone else, it might be glitched out or miscoded at the moment.

Swords and greatswords alike seem to work though, based on my Forsaken campaign right now. I think. I'll double-check when next I enter a fortress or beastmaster fight and have lots of prey to work with.

so just checked, sometimes the one behind the enemy gets it sometimes the one attacking gets it... really odd, wonder if it only procs this way or that way for specific units

werebeast engager is getting it by being the one to attack instead of being the one who backstabs for example.

blood knight is the one being the backstabber aka hes not the one who started the attack and is getting it, guardain is getting it by being the one to attack
