advice for a new player?
I tried playing this game on and off years ago when I was younger, but I've been intimidated by game for the longest time. I've heard there are some QOL changes, like the new tutorial/newbie island for players I've yet to visit yet. But I'd like to know if there are any recommendations on videos to check out on the side or any other fun advice for someone looking to give this game a whirl again?

1. I remember seeing the huge encouragement to always have the wiki on hand, so that's one thing to keep in mind.
2. I assume it's best to try and maintain one profession as the focus due to the slow rates once I leave the tutorial area (since it's safe to just level everything within reason to 20 as a trial player).
3. Would I be able to more-or-less play solo? I'm not a total hermit so I'd have no qualms interacting with others, but I'm not too sure on my consistent activity to try and join a village yet. It's all about the journey rather than the destination anyway!

Thanks!

i also noticed there was a wurm unlimited considered trying either
I'm new myself, and the new world you start on is Guidance which comes with a lot of starter buffs to help you out, however you are limited to skill cap of 20 (free) / 30 (premium) and only one house. I've been playing solo and having fun, but do engage with people nearby from time to time. The wiki contains a lot of information and will be helpful. There are also official discords for Wurm Online to ask questions. https://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Discord

I've looked for video guides but most of them are older and found the wiki and forums contained more relevant information.

For goals, I would work towards getting a lot of your skills to 20+ and your characteristics to use horses and boats as they will be helpful. It will also allow you to practice and learn before eventually leaving Guidance. There is a sleep mechanic for some extra bonus xp and stamina regen, so make a bed when you can.

The game can be slow so I like to watch youtube or something on the side if Im skilling to keep me occupied through any grinds.

Not sure about the QoL since im new, but its definitely click and menu heavy. Best advice is to not get overwhelmed trying to learn everything at once and just focus on one small goal at a time.
All i can say is deed it or lose it, cause i have and seen many others losing their homes and stuffs cause bad players can deed next to it and you cant do a damn thing about it. You cant repair, improve the walls or make any change on that deed perimeters.

They should have it so the users can repair the walls and improve cause they were there first and own it. Funny how hostile players can go in flag it, to run you off or dont want you there.

Not very many good players Online though, unless you join a village. So this is pve servers, not talking about hostile pvp servers here.

you can play WO "ingelplayer" means you play in a world with otyher players but no interaction is needed, its an MMO tho.

Otherwise you have Wurm Unlimited, where you can play on your own server, but as mention above, it lacks 6 years of updates.
Which meditation path would you guys recommend for a PVE player?
