Ch 3: Did I softlock myself? Spoilers.

In the apartment building, I found the dagger but couldn't exorcise it, then I exorcised the seal but didn't realize this unlocked the dagger for exorcism. Proceeded to the top, put the cross in the dumbwaiter and headed back down.and got the camera, but the paths are all blocked off except to the apt with the dagger, so I don't seem to be able to go to the basement, and without the cross I can't exorcise the dagger and presumably proceed. I feel like I must be missing something, but I don't know what it could be.

in the apartment with the dagger there is a yellow staircase that was previously under a table so you weren't able to reach it. there are blood stains trailing towards those stairs.
