Shiren 6 Serpentcoil Island steam release?
Currently the game is exclusive to the Switch. Will it see a Steam release within a reasonable time frame (less than 5 years)?

I just can't understand how they think releasing that game for full price and making it exclusive to the switch is a good move.. I just hope they release it on other platforms and cut the price, even 29.99$ is a bit overpriced for the game.

Because Nintendo paid for it. Do you think developers willingly make their game exclusive that often? It makes perfect sense when a large company offers you a massive lump sum of money in return for a few years or even a few months of exclusivity. That’s how the Epic Game’s Storefront operates.

I’m not here to whine and moan about the game not immediately becoming multiplatform, I just want to know if there will be a Steam port at some point like how Shiren V got a Steam port.

I assume that it will be at least an hour or a half, but given the presence in Japan I assume it'll come eventually.
Although I personally already settled for the switch version (and don't really mind because of portability), can confirm that I'm having a great time with it.

It's a little weird to compare Shiren 6's price with 5's given that the latter is technically a port of a 14-year old DS game, though I can see why people think full price would be a bit much.

I want it on Steam so I can play it on the Steam Deck.

It’s probably the game’s visuals why people are complaining about the price. I think they’re one of the weaker parts of the game, but overall I think it worth the $60. The visuals even look nice in most circumstances.

Yeah, Shiren 5's spritework still holds up very well in comparison but the transition to 3D hasn't made the game feel any slower (which is something I feel some 3D transitions and remakes occasionally suffer from).

Honestly my biggest gripe is that it’s still using that old engine from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity. You can only see 3.5 tiles down and 4 tiles up, and there’s a blur effect on the top and bottom of the screen which just makes it worse. You can see 7 tiles to the left and right.

The earlier mystery dungeon games were more balanced in regards to how far to each side you could see. I am having fun with the game but there are times where I’m going down in a hallway and then I run into an enemy and take a hit I could have avoided, just can’t react fast enough.

Perhaps a good idea to take things a little slower? :P
Nah though I haven't really paid attention that that myself I do kinda get what you mean.
Though to be fair I do tend to have a habit either way of shooting arrows into hallways to check for mobs.

Arrow scouting works if you have arrows, but only if the hallway is long enough to warrant shooting into it. Some of them can be pretty twisty

Im pretty sure Nintendo had nothing to do with its development. I would assume they'd take on some publishing as well if that was the case, and they didn't. This game only has Spike Chunsoft as its legal owners/publishers. I bet eventually itll come to steam, itll just be awhile.

I’m not saying Nintendo has any ownership over the game, anymore so than I would be saying that Epic Games has any ownership over Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2.
It doesn’t make much sense for Chunsoft to only release it on the Switch, that typically only happens when they get paid to do so.

I do think it will come to Steam eventually.

Just like what we got with Shiren 5 on Steam, I believe that when Shiren 6 is finished being patched and having content added, there will be a "plus" version compiled with some enhancements and all of the post-launch content added (as well as new stuff maybe?) and released on Steam as an enhanced port. This would follow what they did with Shiren 5.

Shiren 5 is a special case. It’s not like they had any rereleases of Shiren 3, but they could if they wanted to.

No news on a plus version yet but perhaps worth noting is that there has been an announcement for a plus "pack" DLC to release this week in Japan (and a part two at the end of October), but no word has come of this outside of japan yet (perhaps it'll come a month later in the west like with the release of the game? who knows...).
I'd be surprised to see a pc release even be announced before the part 2 comes out.

Shiren 6 is getting so much stuff it’s nuts. Genuinely amazing game.

Actually, the current DLC pack for Shiren 6 on Switch is being called "Plus" in the Japanese eshop - the logo for the game is even listed as "Shiren 6 Plus" just like Shiren 5 was. This makes me feel like my suspicion is probably going to hold true that once the DLC cycle is complete on Switch they will work on releasing the complete package for other platforms (including Steam). Although Shiren 5 was technically a special case before - it was also their most successful release globally, so following the same pattern would make sense from a business perspective. Shiren 5's success on Steam in the West was largely responsible for Shiren 6's greenlight according to interviews from the devs.
