Option to keep taking a card from the pile until you have a card that can be played

I grew up with the Sierra On-Line Hoyle Book Of Games volume 1 collection (1989). The big difference between their Crazy Eights and Crazy Eights 3D Premium is that you are more or less required to take a card from the pile, until you play a card.

So, in practice you need to keep grabbing a card, until either you finally play one card, or the pile is empty. In the latter case, you have finally the option to pass your turn.

There is a practical limit of how many cards you can have in total in Hoyle 1 (perhaps because of UI and/or limited memory reasons), if you reach that limit (which FWIW is 20 cards) you get a warning and can get no new card, even if the pile is not empty.

As I played that variant for ages, I'd love to have that optional available in Crazy Eights 3D Premium as well.
