Beginner, choice of combo (ex .; climber / puncher)
Hello, I am new to the game and I am new to the world of cycling. I would like to create my cyclist but I do not know which combo to choose (ex .; climber / puncher) to start well.
I would like to start with an easy-to-learn combo so that I can get used to the gameplay and quietly learn the world of cycling races.

Thank you !

How did you become interested in cycling? What kind of races do you like? If you enjoyed the Tour de France, then you'll probably enjoy playing a stage racer. If you enjoyed the world championship, then a puncher will be a good start.

Hello, in fact, I have never watched a bicycle race on TV, be it the Tour de France or other championships). I am a man (53 years old) who is interested and like to learn new things. I learned to like certain sports (American footbal, Nascar, motorcycle racing, Golf, etc.) thanks to video games.

This is why I ask for help because I am really a neophyte and I would like to know what types of races (cobblestone, classic, mountain) would be the easiest for me to learn, and above all, what type of cyclist.

Thank you in advance for your help !
Sorry for my English, I speak French

It could be useful to look up the tutorials of Decathlon Gamer on youtube. He has some excellent tutorials on the game and explains the game mechanics in a lot of detail. Search 'Decathlon gamer pcm tutorial' on youtube and it will probably give some hits.

Sprinter - This is probably easiest to learn. Flat stages are easy to survive and you can sprint in the last few kilometres. You will need to learn to position a little bit, but wins will come quite early. Downside of the sprinter is that it is repetitive.

Stage racer - One of the most all-round and fun things to choose. You will always try to win the overall classification. Climbing is a big part of being a stage racer and also you will learn to properly race in time trials. You will also need to learn about spending your energy wisely, which will benefit your overall feeling for the game. You need to be awake in every stage and not needlessly lose time on some of the easier stages. Biggest downside here is the changes of winning flat and to some degree hilly stages are almost impossible and they are the most common stages.

Climber - Is a lot like stage racer but a bit weaker. Gives fun challenges later on.

Puncher - One of the most fun to play with, but in my opinion a bit too advanced for a starting player.

Northern Classics - The most awesome specilization, but also quite advanced.

Time Trial and Baroudeur - look so boring to me that I have never bothered. They are good riders to have in your team during a career. Not for pro cyclist though.

Starting with Stage racer/Sprinter would probably be a good start. Focus on attribute upgrades when levelling up and leave the potential upgrades for later. Most important to get high (80+) mountain, also upgrade time trial, hills and acceleration stats to at least 75+. Flat also is somewhat important to get to 70+. Your goals are to win the three Grand tours (Giro, Tour, Vuelta). If you manage all that you should be fine.

Good luck!

Wow! Thank you very much for taking the time to explain the basics of the game to me in a very explanatory and understandable text. It will help me so much. A day or two ago, I just started (by pure chance) to watch some Decathlon gamer videos. I have a little trouble understanding everything because I don't understand English well (I am writing to you thanks to Google translate) but just watching his videos, it helps me a lot.

I started doing some simple races to try to understand the mechanics of the game and I know that I will love the world of bike racing and especially play it.

Thank you very much friend!
Good game for you !
