there's a bug with the bagel quest

i read the quest dialogue completely, to clarify. can't get the cat out of the nap spot unless you put the bagel into the bowl and then ring the bell. right? completely understood it. i first got a bagel, and dropped it next to the bowl, which then teleported into it. i then rung the bell, and nothing happened. i rung it a LOT. i thought, okay, maybe it's bugged, so i reloaded the save. bagel gone. ugh, okay, got a new bagel. dropped it into the bowl. rung the bell. and NOTHING. am i doing something wrong, or is this seriously just not accepting my quest?

I had to slap the bell around several times with the bagel in the bowl before it worked.

I noticed that it's a bit difficult to get the bagel in, it will move by itself and look proper if you placed it inside the bowl.

I put the bagel in, rang the bell then went to talk to the other cat. It worked that way
