Can't unlock full map?

Just hit the "city limit" after the train tracks and tried jumping in to unlock the last bit of the map (top right corner of map). Got stuck & had to restart the game on the last save. Is this a bug or is the map just showing a future update?

do you mean the little construction yard? the tanuki quest sends you there.

I think the rest of the yellowed/blocked out areas are for future updates or possible DLC. The area your "cursor" can move int he map is limited for now, I think they are going to use it later. The areas blocked off with water seem to be the city limits for the time being. :)

Yeah, the top left looks like some sort of park, judging by the duckling map, gonna be a lot of shenanigans to do there. Fingers crossed they do that!

I unlocked it... You just have to jump off a building to get there.
