Shiba issue

I just found out the gate to the shiba should be opened after you unlock the fast travel near there and talk to the shiba through the fence?
But for me he never poked his head through the fence and I managed to get to that area and do the quest another way before even unlocking that fast travel yet... now there seems to be no way to open that gate and I always have to climb around it to get either in or out.

How were you able to get to that area and complete the quest before unlocking fast travel?
Normally, as part of unlocking fast travel, Tanuki will fast travel you to the Shiba yard.

Could you share some more details please.

You can jump to the hedge from the fence in the starting area and get into the backyard. I had that quest bug out and the door not open and had to do it that way.

the thick bush next to the fence, you can jump on top of it from the other fence nearby and jump into the dog's garden. Then you can go back out via the balcony of the house

I did the same on my playthrough. It gets fixed at least for me once you get all the balls into the pit and then save and reload. The dog materializes and does the end quest dialogue.

You can make top of the greenhouse to get the balls by jumping from the green boxes. Aim about here:

Damn... wish I'd have thought of that a month ago, before Tanuki got patched on XB. xD
