Non-comprehensive Early Game Walkthrough
This is a non-comprehensive walkthrough, designed to help players through the main story missions, but not listing every detail that can be explored.

Spoiler Warning: major spoilers will be hidden, but some minor details will not.

The game starts with character creation. I know a lot of people stress out about having the right kind of character build (myself included), but I wouldn't worry about it too much at this stage, as the game is still in development and nothing is set in stone.

The main impactful items in character creation is your anatomy, background, affiliation, class and attribute bonus.

- Anatomy decides what sexual options are available to you, and some dialogue differences.

- Background will give you a number of bonuses, depending on which one you choose, and also result in some unique dialogue.

- Affiliation decides your starting reputation with certain factions.

- Class is of course, your starting class, although this can be changed later on

- Attribute bonuses matter greatly, both for freeroam and attribute checks in story missions.

Once you leave the character creation screen, you'll find yourself in the Courtesan's Guild Headquarters, and you'll greet your first companion, Diana. She speaks with you briefly, and you'll be able to earn a small trust bonus if you flirt with her.

At this point you may also notice that nearly every NPC can be spoken to. Some may give you some context about the setting or flavor text but mostly probably are just confused why some random stranger is talking to them.

After traveling to the underrail, Diana speaks some more, with different dialogue depending on your background. After boarding the train, you come across your first potential combat encounter. You may choose to fight, or attempt to talk the thugs out of it. If your Athletic attribute is high enough, you can also choose to curbstomp them through a dialogue choice.

After leaving the underrail, you can wander around Saint Gorfu but all the shops are closed. Upon nearing your Guild Hall, a cutscene will automatically play, introducing you to Zafra, another party member. You go inside and also greet Kore, another companion.

After finishing Diana's short tour, you can return to your room and go to sleep, at which point Kore will interrupt you and offer the game's first sex scene. The player can ask more about Kore, have sex, or decline and go back to bed.

Lifting the Mercantile Freeze

In the morning, Diana will make a passing comment depending on whether or not you had sex with Kore, and give the game's first major task: Lifting the Mercantile Freeze.

On the ground floor of the guild hall, the player can introduce themselves to Windress, another companion, speak with Kore, and receive a minor task from Zafra. After that, the player is left to their own devices to find a way to lift the freeze.

At this point, you have a few options:

Shop owners: The shop owners will speak to you and give a little flavor text on themselves and the locale, but aren't much help otherwise.

Zafra's package: Can be found in the bodyshop at the southwestern corner of the map. Pick it up and return it to Zafra.

Officer Fthume: Located at the far northwestern end of the block is Officer Fthume. If you speak to him, he offers you the option of bribing him for more information regarding the freeze. If you give him money, he'll inform you that the constables are looking for a narsum smuggler. He asks you to return to him if you get a name. When you return, he asks for further evidence, prompting you to visit the bodyshop.

Miranda: A strange-looking woman near the statue of a giant sword. She mostly ignores you unless you are a cultist or shaper. Even then, she brushes you off. If you have a high enough rep with Three Moons however, she tells you who the smuggler is.

Skal: Windress's Old Watch contact is located between the underrail exit and the bodyshop. If you ask him about the freeze, he'll tell you to ask the constables. Once you've bribed Fthume and return, Skal says he knew about the narsum smuggler. If you have a high reputation with the Old Watch, you can ask him for a favor and Skal will tell you the smuggler is Tanka, allowing you to confront him. Alternatively, you can receive a minor task from Skal to place a bug on the Iron Cartel lieutenant Butch. Once the task is completed, Skal will tell you the smuggler is Tanka.

Butch: Butch and his crew are located just to the southeast of the guild hall. He is initially hostile and greets the player gruffly. If you call him out on being Iron Cartel, and you have high enough reputation with the cartel, he'll let you know the smuggler's Tanka. If you don't have enough rep, he'll ask you for a favor: placing a tracking device on Skal.

Bugging either Skal or Butch:

If your athletics attribute or charisma is high enough, you can place a bug on either one without them noticing. However, choosing the non-attribute check choice will result in losing Old Watch rep with Skal or a very, very difficult fight with Butch (i have since reduced the difficulty of this fight, but it is still a challenge).

Kaywin: Kawyin is a mechanic working out of the body shop in the southwestern corner of the map. When you initially greet her, you can attempt to charm her, leading to a short sex scene.

After you discover that Tanka is smuggling narsum, you can confront her about her boss. That conversation either results in her giving you the basement access code, or refusing to do so.

You can also hack the basement door if your technology attribute is high enough.

Tanka: Once you enter the basement, you confront Tanka and have the option to let him go, convince him to turn himself in, demand money from him, or kill him and take what money he has on hand. Killing Tanka will have possible repercussions later on in the game.

Once Tanka has been resolved, a cutscene plays with you talking to Fthume. The freeze has been lifted. You can speak with various npcs to get their opinion on the matter, or go back to your room and sleep to end the day. Near your room, Kaywin will be waiting for you, and you can speak with her, ending with her joining your guild hall as a handywoman.

For the Guild

After sleeping in your bed, you run into Diana in the hallway. She asks you to speak with Zafra, Windress and Kore regarding the day-to-day operations of the guild hall. Once you finish speaking with the three women, you can find Diana in her room, and she asks you make the first upgrades to the guild hall if you want (and have the cash on hand). See her again and she takes you to see the leader of the Courtesan’s Guild, Grand Dame Luca.

After a conversation with Luca, you are charged with finding the leader of the Traditionalist faction, Nena (who was also the woman in the intro). Upon arriving at her home, you find a crime scene and two dead bodies, one of them the woman you were sent to find.

This opens up the first of the faction questlines: The Bloody Hawk. MoonFall’s underground vigilante organization, The Old Watch, is hunting a serial killer, and you can help them later on if you so choose.

After this, you return to your Guild Hall, your next task being to see the Progressive faction leader. Talking with Windress will give you the option to start this mission.

At the meeting, you are introduced to the Travelers Mandate and an elven fugitive and possible companion, Istuyr. The Progressives have asked you to hide her for the time being.

With that done, the next step is to attend the peacemaking conference between the two factions at the Courtesan’s Guild headquarters.

You arrive and there are a lot of people to speak to, but the most important conversations can’t be avoided.

The first is Iron Gregarion, a captain of the Iron Cartel, who was invited by the Progressives.

The second is Jasen, a guild administrator who is overseeing the conference.

And the third is Dejah Mars, an officer for the foriegn mercenary company Stormbreakers Securities.

Eventually, you meet up with Diana to see the Grand Dame, and after a brief detour to find Zafra, you arrive at her office.

Here, you are attacked by a band of mysterious assassins, having to fight your way back out. It seems the Progressives and Traditionalists have started fighting each other too. You have a choice to attempt to stop the guild-in-fighting or flee with your life.

If you attempt to stop the fighting, you must reach the communications room and convince or defeat the courtesans guarding it.

If you attempt to escape, you must convince the courtesans guarding the entrance to let you pass, or defeat them.

Attacking courtesans here will result in a reputation loss with their faction. There is an option to surrender as well.

Either way, you are told by Jasen (who releases you if you surrender), that the guild is now in a state of civil war. He joins your party, and your companions mull over what to do next. Most agree that the best step would be to stay neutral and watch how things develop.

At this point you have several options available to you. You can embark on one of the factions quests, each of which can be started at any time or ignored.

1. The Coming Storm

Join forces with a foreign mercenary company and aid them in their shadowy agenda for MoonFall.

2. Iron and Velvet

Dive into MoonFall's seedy underworld with the help of the island's most powerful crime syndicate.

3. The Bloody Hawk

Aid a vigilante organization in tracking down a brutal serial killer of the city's elite.

4. The Abyss

Discover MoonFall's darkest secrets as you are inducted into the secretive Traveler's Mandate.

Alternatively, you can explore MoonFall in the overworld Free Roam mode, which can be accessed through any underrail station. This mode is still very early in development and prone to bugs.

Faction quests (this part of the walkthrough is under development)

Quests included in Early Access:

As the guild civil war develops, you need strong allies to back you, regardless of how you wish to proceed. There are four factions immediately open to you: the Stormbreakers, Iron Cartel, Old Watch and Traveler’s Mandate.

Stormbreakers: The Coming Storm

Stormbreaker missions can be accessed after finding Dejah Mars in her office at the Stormbreaker Securities building in the Commercial District.

Stormbreakers I: The Harbormaster

She asks you to retrieve some cargo from Dockside. Apparently, a harbormaster there has been paid off to steal some Stormbreaker gear.

Stormbreakers II: The Data Broker’s Second

Dejah Mars asks you to act as a third party to purchase some stolen information from a seedy individual known as the Data Broker.

Stormbreakers III: For Empress and Country

It seems that some Stormbreaker mercs are about to start a brawl in your own guild hall.

Stormbreakers IV: A Troublesome Journo

Mars asks you to silence a omnimatrix influencer. The method is up to you.

Iron Cartel: Iron and Velvet

Iron Cartel missions can be accessed after meeting Butch near Gregarion’s Blood Pit in Dockside.

Iron Cartel I: Tomassi

Gregarion tasked you with finding his cousin, and a traitor to the cartel.

Iron Cartel II: The Data Broker

Gregarion explains that Tomassi has sensitive information and is currently under the protection of the Progressives. Find him and silence him.

Iron Cartel II: Back Alleys

Several of Gregarion’s men are missing and presumed captured. See what you can find out.

Old Watch: The Bloody Hawk

You will be able to access Old Watch missions after speaking with Skal again in Saint Gorfu and returning to the bodyshop.

Old Watch I: Nena’s Secrets

Find out what secrets Nena was hiding in Dockside.

Old Watch II: Cellerdown

Find a man named Linus Cho in Cellerdown.

Old Watch III: The Spire

Meet Shrike in the Spire.

Traveler’s Mandate: The Abyss

You will be able to access Mandate missions after delivering Isutyr to her meeting in Dockside.

Traveler’s Mandate I: The Director

Find and speak with Director Mitty in the Commercial District.

Traveler’s Mandate II: The Door

Help the Mandate open the Door to the Abyss

Traveler’s Mandate III: Isabel and Takashi

Make contact with the camp in Ash Lake

Traveler’s Mandate IV: Third Division

Enter the teleporter.

I have several questions about the faction quests.

1. The Bloody Hawk questline.
So, Ive got to the part with the murder of Mr. Voss or whatever his name is, tried every possible scenario with the holo and searched everything in the room but there does not seem to be anything. Is there actualy a solution to the scene and I just dont have enough Perception or theres really nothing to it? Or are you supposed to find out who this man really is later?

2. The Abyss.
The journal stopped updating after the "Something is wrong. What is this? You dont remember taking these notes". Also after escaping from the facility and talking to the doctor I can go back through the DBTP and get captured again. Not sure what to do next, seems like a bug.

The simple answer is that you might've reached the end of current Early Access development for those questlines. For the Bloody Hawk, did you talk to Shrike in the room? She'll end that portion of the quest.

But otherwise yes, those questlines end there until further development. You should get a message in your quest journal along the lines of "The next portion of this quest is under dev." It may be bugged and something I'll fix in a patch.

I dont have it for "The Abyss" questline so its most likely a bug since I can just infinitely replay the last quest with the Third Division.

Thanks for letting me know, I'll fix that in the next patch.

No problem.
So, for the Old Watch III quest, am I supposed to simply talk to the hologram and thats it? I was assuming theres something more to it but I couldnt do anything else other than end the quest.

Talking to the hologram and then Shrike ends that part of the quest.

Quite a lot since theres not much to do for now besides main quests. Theres, like, only 1(or maybe a couple, cant remember) very short side quest if Im not mistaken so... Yeah...

Also I doubt you will be able to actually destroy any of the factions.

Currently in Early Access I'd say 80% of story content is in the faction quests, which can be considered the main leg of the game. There will be other side quests available and free-roam in the overworld, but most of the story is in the faction quests for now.

I mean in the future, if i don't want to help the iron cartel i can ignore their quests in future development or i will lose important part of the story?

So the story portion of each faction questline only relates to that faction -> If you're not interested in the Iron Cartel and their story, then you can safely skip it. The rest of the game is still there waiting for you.

Of course, if you skip ALL the faction quests, then you're missing a big chunk of the game.

Dear manlymousedan,

firstly thanks for making this wonderful game - haven't been playing long yet but been loving the world-building, the music, the writing and art-style (and the 3 perspectives).

Quick q - I accidentally broke 4th wall?? in the first room and have been wondering about that cheat code. Is that meant to be a dev feature or something that you just naturally comes across as stories progress?

Many thanks!

Oh wow, did you Discover the cheat console in the room where you meet Diana? If so, yes it's a dev tool I didn't expect anyone to find. I will add in a console there so players can use cheats before they get to their own room (where the cheat computer is).

Yeah... a mix of blind luck and wanting to interact with everyone/-thing. Becomes self explanatory after 2 hour. Thanks for explaining :)
