Cooking ramen?

Is there a trick to the ramen puzzle? The animations seem to take too long to work with the timer for each ingredient. I also got the impression from the dialogue that alcohol would knock the character out, but I added sake and she just complains.

If I recall properly, it wasn't that you did it "on time" but "in order and as asked."
