Steam Deck
I ran into an issue on first launch with the resolution but if you go down to settings and change it, it works fine after that.

also crashing about 10m into a run

I didn’t run it longer than that, but I’ll give it a try.

Mine crashed the first time, but seems to be fine since then. I play in "virtual windowed" mode. I don't know if that makes a difference. FYI for anyone trying to get to the window settings: since the default scaling only shows the "new game" option on the main menu, press up to select the options/settings menu; the view settings are to the left (d-pad), you won't be able to see the cursor but you can see the selection title in the lower left quadrant of the screen; there will be a resolution option; when selected more options appear; I selected "virtual windowed" and left the resolution at its default; the screen won't re-scale until you confirm at the bottom of the window; the game window will adjust to the changes and a dialog window will ask you to confirm the new setting before a timer counts-down (it will revert to the previous window setting if the timer runs out)

There's a bug with how the music load that causes crashing as far as I know. If you go to the sound test on the main menu and choose a few songs they'll stop loading. After that entering a battle encounter will crash the game.
The game seems to do this just playing naturally as well.

For me it seemed to crash mostly in battle. which is strange because at one point i could play for hours and nothing went wrong. now it freezes every 5-15 min.

What about the intro video? It dosn't play on the Deck?

Huh? Not for me. And I get lots of freezes.

This game would be perfect for Steam Deck and is a reason I bought one. I foolishly assumed it would be crash-free. Is there a way to mod out the music if that's what's causing the crashes?

delete the files in desktop mode.

Some guy online made some performance tweaks for the deck (Cryobyte33 Steam-Deck-Utilities on GitHub). these tweaks involve increasing the deck swap file size, changing the swap file priority so ram is used first instead of the swap, and enabling TRIM.

When i have time, i may re-try LoM with the fixes implemented, see if it does better with the 10 min music crash. im not willing to delete the music to play LoM on the deck. the music is too much an important part of the game for me.

What i've been doing, for now, is dropping the screen res on my desktop to the deck's 1280x800, then running LoM through Moonlight, or using steams native streaming.

Honestly i agree about the music. There are many games i can play with volume off. Play while watching something else. But LoM's music is just to... impact-ful to me.

Hey, thanks for this. I was trying to find a way to change the settings in the steam deck options, but didn't realize the settings to change the resolution was an in-game setting

I hope they update this game to work better on the steam deck. I want to buy it but the talk of issues make me hesitant. My first play through was actually as a PS1 classic on PS Vita and I really enjoyed playing it as a handheld game.

I bought the game during the Winter sale... hoping it would play on the Deck. The freezing in battle made the game completely unplayable. Unless there's some way to fix it, this game is not playable on the Deck whatsoever... unfortunately.

I had invested less than 2 hours in the game, so I was able to claim a refund. I'm not going to keep a game I can't play.
