So much to the game itself. BUT...and that's a really huge but...this port is done very bad and poorly. I assume that over 90% of all who bought the game here on Steam have performance problems (heavy fps drops, stuttering) despite of having a more than capable rig for this game (remember: this was originally a PS1 game)
And something that's also annoying for some is that this port has updated the backgrounds to really nice and smooth looks but has left the sprites pixel-ish.
So yeah. this port has unfortunately it's downsides.
All I can say about Hades is, that it is amongst the best, funniest (seriously has made me laugh many times) and overall well-designed games I've ever played (but that's perhaps also because I'm heavily into greek mythology).
And about another game, well....the summer sale has started and there are plenty of awesome games on sale. Just pick one that suits your interests and preferences the most I'd suggest.
Just because I don't buy something now doesn't mean I might not later. There's a winter sale.
I'm just trying to pick what I might play in the next 3 months.
Legend will have a lot of replay value in you're into rpgs especially if you already like the series. This was a no brainer back then as much as it is now. If you cant stomach multiple runs, theres a guide for that though you will have a long trek grinding out perfect mech parts and the seed mechanic if you're a completionist. It's good, it is not the same unplayable port that Enix has released previously with other games. This along with Saga Frontier were criminally ignored for their times. If anything winter sale will probably be around the same discount.
Hades is a great game, it won awards for a reason. You will have a great time there exploring the world, unlocking conversation and expose' through the cast, and enjoy the fluid action packed combat. Hades main fault is that it has no end game, as in once you've beaten the final boss and unlocked all the core game features there is not much else to do. Getting currency for upgrades ? Sure. More materials for cosmetic things? Fine. But the way the game difficulty is scaled is purely just a number bump and you will see most of the game before you hit the power creep anyway. It's a great experience, but offers nothing compelling after you get good enough at it. Legends without a guide will be dozens upon dozens of hours just exploring each cycle and trying to find all the hidden things.
It's the 4th Mana game in the series.
1. Sword of Mana (Final Fantasy Legend)
2. Secret of Mana
3. Trials of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 3)
4. Legend of Mana
In my opinion in terms of quality, enjoyability, user friendliness, it falls dead last in the top 3 mana games ever made...
My list is this:
Trials of Mana Remake (Best Mana Game ever made)
Secret of Mana (Used to be the best, until they remade Trials of Mana)
Legend of Mana (Meh, I can take it or leave it, it's a decent game but it's very convoluted)
I like the trials of mana remake as well.
I dunno if I'll like it better than Secret of Mana.
Actually it's adventure of mana not sword. Sword of mana is a gba game, which came out after legend.
Legend is unfortunately a gaiden game, kind of a what-if side story. It has the best atmosphere, music, combat SYSTEM (even if the combat and hitboxes themselves are very ??), and worldbuilding of any of the mana games IMO and I wish it had been more successful on release. The games that came after it were uh. Not great for a couple decades. (trials p good tho)
Yup children of mana, and that god awful dawn of mana, lets see those never make it to the light of day again.
It's still considered a spin-off but the amount of detail and love that was put into this single title is off the charts.
