Now THAT would need a remake not a remaster. Woo boy... quite possibly the worst in the franchise.

Honestly not worth the remake. Give the fans (all three of them) a decent port on modern devices and call it a day.

I'd prefer Sword of Mana next.. Children of Mana could be ok to, if they gave it online multiplayer.. It wasn't best game ever... But not the worst.

I tried Dawn of Mana one time and I don't think I need to again unless they re-made it into a normal Mana game.
secret
trial
legends
another remake with absurd price, this SE too good to recycle old game with today's price
what next?
sword?
shield?
books?
shoes?
socks?
.............OF TF MANA

A fine and proper REMAKE of Xenogears of Mana, with the cut content from disc 2, that would make my day.

Dawn of mana is a horrible game
The only bad one in the series.

Dawn of mana was further proof that Square Enix is using the Mana series to try different things, and take weird risks, like making mobile games, and tactics games, and just doing the Zelda Hack and slash format with "Final Fantasy Adventure" instead of turn-based like all of their other RPGs at the time. I could see it working better with today's innovations on how controls work, but i fired it up recently and i was like "Oof, yikes!"

I never played it, since it got panned at release and I've never seen much praise about it in all these years.

Do own the OST though...

Dawn of Mana actually isn't a terrible game. I believe the fanbase shuns it because even though the mechanics and ideas they attempted in it are quite unique, it just struggles to feel like a Mana game. Legend of Mana was already a huge jump from Secret and Trials, but wasn't too much off the path of what people wanted.

Yeah. It wasn't really horrible in gameplay, more like in execution?

A camera that actively works against you, the Havok engine is used kinda... sloppily? I can't think of the best word for it, but the physics feel a bit janky. And losing all of your stats/exp upon entering a new dungeon cripples that feeling of overall accomplishment that is key to any good RPG.

Yeah, it's a bit whack in those regards. I was doing a recent playthrough of it that I need to finish and I enjoyed a lot of the world I saw, the game has better than other PS2 games have in terms of style, but the issues with the actual mechanics of the gameplay sincerely weigh it down from being a better game.

Well for Ps2 games, a lot of them where kinda funny... FF went linear/MMO... starocean 3 despite being a great game, had a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ plot twist that ruined the game(At least for me)... Grandia 3 while funny and nice to look at(With some enhanced combat mechanics) the story was.... well.... not all that great.

VP2 I played a little bit before my ps2 died, and DQ i never got into.

Edit: compared to all those I would have to say it almost fits right in, however it was so different from all the other games that it basically killed the franchise. If they at least left some of the old mechanics/RPG elements inside the game instead of going in a completely different direction It wouldn't be hated by a lot of people.
