Single player mode ?
I've been searching for a poker game for some 10 years that had a single player mode, much like a season in any sport you play through tournaments and such. will there be any plans to release a single player mode instead of always online ? some people like myself would enjoy it as well as others who cant play online all the time

I can't even start the "story" mode. Keeps throwing me errors

the story mode is just you vs online people as its all online based
probably the main reason for issues at this point in time to much traffic their servers cant keep up

Makes sense. Can't even get into a cash game right now.

Sorry for the temporary downtime, we're now back online.

All online based? didn't they brag about some good AI?
The Average Gamer Nov 22, 2020 @ 4:41pm
Yes they bragged about good AI but your only able to play against them if you create your own games and make the table private
the story mode isn't and story mode its just online games against other players which is contradicting as hell

Can't they at least allow AI in story mode? only reason i'd purchase.

That is the only reason I would buy this game...for a mode to play with the AI.

thats the reason i purchased this game
ive played other games online but when its free chips noone cares about winning really so its just a case of seeing people go all in every hand
was really hoping for single player mode in this game to combat the same old all in players online but i guess we all thought wrong

its old, its pretty ugly, and it doesnt really support ring games... BUT, for reasonably competent single player poker, its pretty much the only game in town anymore. and, its free, and will run on linux/mac/pc...

its highly configurable in terms of the AI profiles. you can adjust the proportion of profiles in a game (eg, 20% solid, 15% rock, 30% weak-tight, etc) and edit the hand selection and behavior or the various profiles to tweak them to your liking. you can also set up tournaments however you like in terms of players, structure, etc... and even use the software as a home tourney clock, or for hand analysis.

additionally, every single hand between every single AI at every single table is played... so it isnt just random or stat-driven for the other tables in a tourney. the end result being, say you have a tourney with 5k players (4,999 AIs and you), by the time you get down to 500, youll find that the better AIs are mostly the ones that are left... so youll see the maniacs and fish get largely eliminated... which leads to a fairly realistic progression of difficulty as the tourney goes on. the AI also adjusts (although in my experience only barely) based on what it has seen of you... but the individual players only remember what THEY specifically saw. the AIs dont magically know your play style if you change tables, or they move on to your table, which is nice.

the AI isnt that great, tbh... it is exploitable, and with time, youll learn to recognize the different profiles, and be able to routinely beat the pants off of them. in particular, the 'better' AIs (the solids and TAGs) are exceedingly weak in a lot of situations, and dont do a good enough job of recognizing that you are constantly betting them off of hands... and they have a tendency to overplay certain types of hands, which can be exploited to stack them with ease. but even with all that said, its STILL a whole lot better than the AI in most of the single-player poker games youll find today (which is for the most part abysmal across the board).

worth taking a look at, at least, not like it costs you anything to give it a whirl...

Try World Series of Poker TOC (2007), old but nice!
