Been grinding in the bomb forest just west of veldt (world of balance) for an hour :( no grenade! is this a world of ruin monster?

No. It’s a World of Balance monster. It can also be summoned by the Flame Eater in the Burning House after you’ve exhausted all of the Balloons it summons.

Got to keep killing those bombs until it spawns. it has the blaze rage, same as bomb, so nothing different.

It seems like the 'rare' spawn of several maps is surprisingly rare in this release. Tonberry, Grenade, Brachiosaurus, and several others all seem to have below the expected 1/16th spawn rate. Just keep trying, it will spawn eventually.

1/16 is pretty rare, out of 96 attempts, you have a "chance" to see something 6 times.

That's not how probably works, at ALL. One could easily see it 10 times in that 96 attempts.

I found two in about a minute.

That's just bad luck then, as others have said it's 1/16 chance. For me personally , I don't get the bomb x1, or Bomb x6 formation there either, since it screws up my veldt packs.
So I usually end up resetting quite a bit before I find a Grenade.

It took me over an hour and a half to find a Grenade. It wouldn't surprise me if Pixel Remaster had a lower spawn rate than the 1:16 in older versions. E.g., the probability of going 250 battles given 1:16 is 0.0047%; for 500 battles, it's 0.00000027%. Anyway, I recommend auto-battling with Edgar equipped with Hermes Sandals using Auto-Crossbow to take out six Bombs at once (using Cure out of battle if/as needed). fwiw, I learned a cr@p-ton of spells (Terra is up to 23, and this is all I've used her for since getting Magicite).
