Given how buggy this game is in regards to Jump I kind of wonder if that might trigger another bug though
This is correct. Reraise will allow your chosen character to return to life after the final cast.
Magic Masters MP pool is absurdly high, 50,000 but his HP is the same, 50,000.
You can cast spells on him for over 1500+ HP a cast where as Rasp will only take off double digits worth of MP... like 30 - 60 MP.
You can kill him in about 3 - 5 minutes easily by just spamming spells.
Easiest Strategy:
Cast Berserk on him so he can't use any AOE magic. He will now physically attack you the entire fight and never change his weakness... He does about 500 HP of damage per attack.
Cast Vanish on your entire party so his physical attacks always miss thereby nullifying any and all damage he can do to you while he's Berserk.
Cast Re-Raise on at least 1 party member.
Finish him off, he'll cast Ultima, he'll probably wipe your party if you're below level 60 but Re-Raise will save you and you'll be victorious.
So, I didn't get phoenix and reraise prior to doing this so that's not an option since I gave up but my auto-save is still before the boss.
I'm gonna have to try the jump strategy and if that doesn't work then I'll try the 0 MP one. I just wanted to confirm he wouldn't do a final cast when he hits 0 MP to avoid frustration over crawling thru a 30+ min failed attempt.
AFAIK Rasp was hitting for 300+ on random encounters and the Holy Dragon, so that may not be as long as expected.
If someone has any other idea on how to do this, please let me know.
Happened to me too dude, had to bite the bullet. I was Auto Saved right in front of the cultists
Casting berserk on him makes this fight trivial specially because buffs don't seem to go away unless dispelled
