Censorship
I've noticed they've censored the salute the Gestahlian empire does (Terra's flashback 10 min into the game) from raising one hand to raising both. I believe it's the first time this has been censored.

Wondering if people have found more stuff that has changed from previous versions.

Depending on the time and region, things may change.

I wonder if the Celes torture scene (where she's getting punched in the town prison by imperial guards before Locke rescues her) is still there. If I recall, it was removed from the Japanese version a while back.

i might've given some leeway for changing "son of a submariner" to "son of a sandworm".. But they changed Edgar's dialogue when you first meet Shadow. He will no longer "slit his mama's throat for a nickel."

Hoping for a Woolsey mod in the near future.
These changed lines are just examples of a better translation released with the GBA port in 2006. The translation that came out on SNES and PSX was punchy, but often inaccurate.

Yeah with the over offended booty hurt whiny wimps we have to censor so they who very likely would not even play it will "cancel" it... People it is a video game and if it bugs you then stay away... :evafacepalm:

You snowflakes sure are getting awfully triggered about them removing a Nazi salute.
vic 23/fev./2022 às 12:56
Dats crazy these guys who talk all day about fragile snowflakes throw their hands up when the game censors a nazi thing. It's like they're mad the game stopped representing them thats crazy bro

After this I'm shocked they still used the word "slave."
Uhm, it's not the "Slave Crown," it's the the "Boba Fett's Spaceship Crown."

I never took it to be a nazi salute and just a fully raised arm. In either case one or two raised arms doesn't make a difference.
Wildrune 23/fev./2022 às 14:17
They raise two arms instead of one, hmmm... "Hail Hydra?"
Zoneseek 23/fev./2022 às 14:31
hahahha just played this, guess they didn't want to risk a twitter cancelling!

As psychotic and hateful that bunch can be, this isn't the kind of thing they freak out about.

Sometimes i think people look for any excuse to moan about "censoreship" ... quick get a refund, 2 arms are raised not 1.
A problem with censorship is it takes over everything if left unchecked. People who want to stifle free speech and other freedoms always start small so no one notices, and then take more and more until it's too late to stop.

Why would anyone? Are there actual nazis in FF6 world?

Did you know that when a new train or line is inaugurated in Japan, the stationmaster will always deliver the same salute for the send-off?

Here's a different example. If you've seen even a little anime, you'll probably notice prominent usage of armbands among members of a group or organization. Does that mean they're nazis?

No. It's because these gestures and symbols will simply show up in a different context when your culture never stigmatized them.

This is what offended Westerners cannot get in their heads. Do you really think SE would be making this change if no one outside of Japan recently brought their attention to the "issue"?

And let this sink in: This was not a problem even during the most notorious era of Nintendo censorship.

Ignorant and disgusting. Shame on Square Enix and shame on anyone downplaying.
