In the West, we cancel people all the time. We go to great lengths to scrub them from our media.
Because why not? I mean, yeah, you see the credits in the original so let´s just remove it. Does it make any sense? No, it does not. There was no, absolutely no single reason why would anyone remove the credits during the iconic intro in FF6. It wasnt bad, it wasnt doing anything wrong, it made a sense, it had its purpose, but Square just decided to remove it.
The same situation as in FF 8 Remastered. Why did they change Squall´s face and hair? Was there any reason? Absolutely not, as in the FMVs Squall looks still like Squall. During their promotion campaing they were showing FMVs from FF8 showing the old Squall. The game came out and without any reason Squall was gone and replaced by an lifeless emo character.
Aaaand? Having the credits during the intro would have not made the intro anyhow longer...
Their names will still be in the end credits.
Now the intro has no purpose.... That was the point of the original intro. The intro existed because of the credits that were showed on the screen.
They got an amazing idea to put the credits together with the continuation of the events that led to the intro. Got it? Now it makes no sense. Now it feels like an random animation without any deeper sense that just appears and then ends.
The original intro served as a big emotional gate that welcomed the players to the game. The credits gave anymore...
But one could argue that it was meant strictly for pathos, too, disregarding the credits altogether. I assume that is more what they are going for in hindsight anyway. Whether that was ever the original intention or not, we'll never know.
If it had credits to distract me, it would have seemed shorter, and the music would certainly have fit some kind of intro credit scene.
Without credits, the music made me think the dudes who brainwashed the girl might be HEROES somehow... It's very heroic sounding music. But clearly the "heroes" were meant to be the staff... SquareEnix is stupid...
there are the ending credits where all developers are mentioned ...the iOS/Android versions that were released on Steam had the original credits even that the mobile versions were created by different people.... see? you just cannot justify the lack of the credits
..... Actually they did not remove the original credits from the FF 5 intro.
dwarves work in the mines, that is why
the original intro is much better, the new intro has not the same impact and feeling and purpose

I think it serves a purpose of immersion beyond that point about the credits, however, if one can not see that same perspective, there's nothing else to fall back on with the absence of the credits or even the option to turn them on again for this cutscene.
It is kind of a slow scene but I don't mind that, in part because of the feel I get from it & the purpose I see in it from my own perspective.
i disagree ...just take a look at the FRIENDS intro ....remove all the names and you will see just some randoms scenes without any purpose and this is what Square did to the intro in FF6
